Très beau parc et cuisine bien équipée. Literie catastrophique (un lit tellement usé qu’il est inutilisable) - salles d’eau vétustes - toute la maison mériterait d’être rénovée - la piscine est très agréable mais la mosaïque se décolle.

La maison a du charme mais le confort et l'attitude mesquine du propriétaire sont inacceptables : 2 eme étage du niveau chambre de bonne parisienne (et encore...) , des stickers "privés" partout mettant mal a l'aise , quasiment aucun rangement , serviettes/drap/literie .. médiocres , petit électroménager ancien, sal et limite (le propriétaire avait caché son grille pain et sa machine expresso ..) , piscine chauffée a 21 degrés , 2 eme étage non chauffé a l'arrivée et thermostat general a 15 degrés ... nous sommes dans une situation de publicité mensongère ...

This house is an absolute dream! The garden is amazing and the house is very tastefully decorated. It has all the facilities you need for the perfect holiday in France. Upon arrival we had some miscommunication on where the keys could be found, but Jon was quick on the communication and he made sure we were able to find our way in the house and in the neighbourhood. The house is situated in a quite village and offers lots of privacy. Nearby the house there are plenty of nice villages (like Vélezay) and nature to enjoy. If you are looking for a quite place to spend your holiday this house will be the perfect match! We absolutely recommend this place.

This is our second visit. The first was in 2016 and we can see the improvements that have been made over the past few years. An excellent property, ideally located for the wine regions we love in France.

We loved our stay at the house, lovely long garden and super pool (after we asked for it to be cleaned). The outside covered eating and bbq area was perfect. This is a “shabby chic” property with an unpredictable oven and NO air conditioning. But still a lovely family home.

Wir waren als sechsköpfige Familie da. Es ist viel Platz in dem Haus, das sehr schön eingerichtet ist. Besonders gut gefallen hat uns, dass ein Flügel dastand, auf dem man auch spielen durfte. Mit der Übergabe hat jeweils alles reibungslos geklappt.

Lovely house in quiet village location. The garden is spectacular, really beautiful, peaceful, magical; a delight! Swimming pool was very nice, a godsend on rare hot days. Village was small and friendly. Baguettes sold each morning in the pub within a stones throw. Would highly recommend this for an escape for some down time. It suited our small family very well. I would not want to go there with a group of 10, particularly non-family members as I do not think it would cater well for this- plenty of beds but only 2 bathrooms and no large tables to sit around, but for a small group looking to escape the strains of busy life in a charming surrounding it was perfect. The house was very stylish. I imagine it would be lovely in winter too with the nice log fire.

Nous avons bien communiqué avec le propriétaire qui a totalement refaite cette maison avec gout et beaucoup de facilités: Elle est bien équipée, wifi, parking, barbecue, piscine et un très beau jardin. La maison a beaucoup de livres et musique intéressante, une belle cheminée pour les jours de pluie. Nous avons passé un excellent weekend entre amis et avons parcourue les alentours et Vesselay, une basilique et village très beaux et typiques bourguignons seulement à 20min. On recommande vivement cette maison très calme et bien aménagée, pour ma part, j’ai envie déjà de revenir! Merci M. Schultz

The accommodation was exactly as described with comfortable seating and the most wonderful open fire. The kitchen and dining area was suited to 8 guests, and there appeared to be a problem with the cooker thermostat. It didn't stop us cooking. The weather was disappointing as we had hoped to use the pool, which Jon had kindly opened for us just in case. The village itself was quiet, but Clamecy was only a short drive.

Nous avons fort apprécié la région, très peu fréquentée par le tourisme de masse et donc particulièrement calme. Fontenay et Vézelay sont d'une rare beauté, et les découvrir en famille fut un vrai bonheur. La maison, quant à elle, comporte 2 grandes chambres au premier étage qui sont parfaites pour les parents. Les chambres du 2eme étage sont très petites, ainsi que les lits, et ne contiennent pas de meubles pour ranger les vêtements, ce qui a été problématique. La 2eme Sdb, au 2D, n'est pas aérée. Les pièces de vie sont décorées avec goût (le salon contient d'ailleurs de bonnes collections de CDs de jazz). En revanche, la maison n'est pas équipée pour 10 personnes: tables trop petites, tant dehors que dedans, pas assez de chaises pour manger à 10 non plus, seulement 4 transats pour la piscine. Nous avons trouvé le prix trop élevé par rapport à la qualité des prestations, qui nous ont au final déçus. Nous conseillons de faire un état des lieux d'entrée, le droit français étant préjudiciable pour les locataires et non pour les propriétaires

As a newly established family of three, we happily exchanged our jobs and stressful big city life for a calm and peaceful September month on parental leave with our new-born son in Crain, France. The beautiful and well restored house, the perfectly planned private garden, the sound from the village church bell and the landscape surrounding it all, offered us the calm peacefulness that we were in search for. The well equipped kitchen soon became the center for our daily activities, using plenty of time to plan and prepare great “slow-food”, being creative with the fresh supplies we found on the village markets. The private garden was rich with fruits, fresh herbs and vegetables that gave us plenty of ideas and delicious ingredients for dinners, deserts and marmalades. Along with the gardens generous nature, it provided us with an intimacy and privacy whether we were walking or playing around in it, preparing ourselves breakfast, lunch or dinner in the beautiful green scenery or allowing yourself a refreshing swim in the pool. The village surroundings has plenty of great stroller walks in the nearby woods, along the riverboat canals or crossing the cultivated fields covered with oats, corn and wild flowers. For longer excursions into the neighbor villages or the Bourgogne vineyards, one becomes dependent on the car. The owner has collected a great number of travelling books side by side with a large collection of architecture and design book that comes handy for trip-planning, or general good reading on a rainy days. The house in Crain is highly recommendable for young adults and families with interest in great food and wine, spending a slow pace vacation in peaceful, charming and beautiful environments.

We were fortunate to be able to celebrate such a fabulous New Year in such beautiful surroundings. Despite the bitter cold outside, the house was lovely and warm and the cosy fireplace created an inviting atmosphere and became the centerpoint of many a delightful evening of food, wine and joyful banter! The countryside offered many enjoyable and cultural outings and charming villages to stop for long lunches on the way! We would definitely consider a spring or summer visit to enjoy the lovely gardens and pool and explore the area further.

We spent the most wonderful time in your beautiful home, relaxing, reading and writing. The pool with its lavender border is fabulous. It was a treat to prepare meals using the fresh lettuce and herbs from the garden. Enjoying lunch and dinner in the lovely garden or by the pool was so nice. It is truly a little paradise in Burgundy! We enjoyed visiting Vezelay and went for a picnic in Pierre Perthuis. The nearby markets, shops and restaurants are excellent. We hope to return soon with friends.
