Great location, courteous staff, tasty and plentiful breakfast. The rooms are very clean, the bathrooms spotless with very hot shower. Exceptional internet speed over their wifi. There is absolutely no way you will be disappointed with your experience at this place!

The Hotel is good for the price. But need a lot of updates in the rooms
Great location, service and value for money. The staff were very helpful and assisted us in calling taxi and answering all the questions we had about Cuenca. Highly recommended
The quality service and beaty of the hotel is unique. Its strategic location in the heart of Cuenca, plus the variety of breakfast everyday, and the always ready tea/coffee station made us feel very happy! We are more then pleasant for the stay in Hotel Azul de Plaza.
I loved everything about the hotel. First of all it’s very beautiful and cozy. The care and attention of Eder and Erica to the guests were exceptional 😃 I liked the walking distance to many attractions. It’s very clean and maintained. I would definitely stay there and recommend this hotel. Look no further it’s a nice and safe hotel 😃

Hotel Azul is in the most historic part of downtown across from lovely Plaza de San Sebastián. If you tell a taxis driver “Plaza de San Sebastián,” that’s all they need to know. Not a lot of traffic on this street but taxis on streets above & below. We stayed 9 nights in this small modest hotel and loved it. The staff is very friendly & helpful. Everything downtown is in easy walking distance & there’s lots to see. First floor is one flight up, but luggage assistance is available.
Wonderful staff, good area if you want to be in the middle of the life of a busy city. Lovely park across the street. The room I rented faced the park, and each night, to my surprise, there were huge speakers set up for a Zumba class from 8-9. The door on my balcony did not close completely, so the sound came directly in, as did all sounds from the very busy area. Breakfast was good, but it did not show off the wonderful fruits and juices and coffee of Ecuador.
First time in Cuenca, so I wasn't sure what sort of place the Hotel Azul would be. Boy, was I in for a pleasant surprise! Nothing over the top, but all aspects of this cozy place impressed me. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice view of the city and strong/ consistent Wi-Fi. The location is great -- a short walk down to the river or quick stroll to the city center (although there are plenty of affordable and tasty restaurants within a stone's throw). But the best part of Hotel Azul was the staff, who went above and beyond to make sure my stay was memorable. Speaking Spanish is helpful but not vital, as everyone was patient with my limited language skills and they were more than comfortable assisting me in English. Coffee and breakfast are available in the morning, and they even have a convenient on-site laundry option that is amazingly affordable. I ended up extending my stay for a few days because I enjoyed it so much. Hotel Azul does everything right -- you won't be disappointed if you stay here during your time in Cuenca!
Great staff and great location. Wilmer and his staff went above and beyond to make us welcome even made aji for breakfast. Rooms had an old-world charm with modern bathrooms. Located across the plaza from Jodoco brewery, our favorite, was the icing on the cake.
This was my first visit to Cuenca, and I absolutely loved the city. Hotel Azul de la Plaza was an excellent base to explore the Centro Historico. The room was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, and above all, very comfortable. The location really cannot be beat, the price was more than reasonable, and there was parking available in a secure lot. When I come back to Cuenca, I will absolutely stay here again.
Location its anazing not much of traffic noise across a park and pubs. Walking distance to all transportation modes. Its extremely clean and maintained. Staff is amazing.
The room was dirty, the bed sheets smelled awful like sweat and not enough bed sheets and blankets for Cuenca's cold nights; the bathroom had black mold in the shower tiles and in the glass wall, the bedroom windows had no security, anyone could open the same from the outside, when we reported that to the front desk lady she said "it's impossible that someone could do that since the room was at the 3rd floor" but the room windows were accessible from the rooftop if someone tried to reach it.
The hotel didn't provide water bottles in the room, as advertised in the Expedia room pictures. When asked, the same front desk lady, she said they only provided common water in a jar, who knows where that water came from! We left the hotel one night earlier for those conditions, waste of money and time, don't recommend this hotel to anyone, much better offers closer to the Cathedral and cheaper. In conclusion, we had a very bad experience in this awful hotel.
