Our check-in was delayed by several hours and well past the time we were guaranteed. Staff professionalism ranged from non-existent to efficient and friendly. The room itself was comfortable and clean. Infrastructure worked well and there was ample hot water. Mamacitas is one of those places one can recommend with several caveats. The rooms are near the ferry dock and shops. The restaurant and bar offer consistently good food at reasonable prices. But the staff is not ready for the Internet age. There is something quaint and charming about “island time” but when people fly half way around the world to be there, their expectations may well be disappointed (at the very least).

La stanza era abbastanza spaziosa e silenziosa di notte. Era pulita, come anche il bagno. Il letto era un po' troppo morbido. Bello il terrazzino da cui vedere il tramonto. Al piano terra c'è il ristorante, molto buono, che è aperto fino alle 21, per cui fino a quell' ora c'è musica. Personale cordiale.

Mixed experience here: Loved the location. The lady that checked us in was very kind, and friendly. She allowed us a very early check in. The restaurant at Mamacitas was great. The mattress was comfortable. The bad: The photos of the 2nd floor room we stayed in were kind of deceptive. It showed a nice balcony/terrace, but they dont' show that it overlooks and is adjacent an ugly rooftop that has a bunch of noisy mechanicals on it. The room furnishings (other than the mattress) were very old and worn, and there was some peeling paint. The room was in desperate need of remodeling. I saw other rooms as they were being cleaned that looked much nicer than the one we were in. On the first day, I couldn't get any hot water to come out of the shower, but that might have been my fault as I couldn't find the exact spot on the shower faucet for the hot water. I asked the young woman at the front desk in the afternoon about it and she gave a confusing answer and seemed completely indifferent. Also asked for a hair dryer and she said they didn't have one...which, I've never stayed at a hotel where they didn't have hair dryers before. Oh well...so, it wasn't great, it wasn't horrible. If I had paid less for the room, I probably wouldn't be complaining, but I thought it was kinda pricey for what it was.

The room was very clean, the staff was very helpful - and proactively communicative regarding the ferry, and right in the heart of Culebra. The hotel does have three floors without an elevator, so just be prepared in this regard with your luggage! Great location to stay!

Room was clean but sparse, I wish the place across the street was not so run down and piled with garbage. Our door opened to that side so I would definitely recommend getting a room facing the back of the building and not the front.
