The location is good- 5 miles from Custer and easy access to Custer State Park. The grounds are quiet with abundant wildlife viewing and (mostly) quiet neighbors.
BUT
The cabin essentially has three bedrooms. One is in a dank and musty walkout basement in need of updating; one is on the main floor and is right off the kitchen and quite small; the third and largest is in the attic. None of the bedrooms have a queen or king to accommodate adult partners. They all have 2 separate beds. Great for kids, but where do adults sleep? So, if there are pairs (say, my wife and I looking for a weekend away with the kids), we are stuck in separate beds...Why would a cabin not have a master?
Also, there was a bit of false advertising...the cabin has air conditioning, BUT the largest bedroom, the one in the ATTIC, does NOT. A box fan was provided, but we were still roasting. Good thing we had separate beds...Also, the indoor fireplace advertised in the photos is not available for guest use.
Another issue- the access road is over a mile and not paved. Hope you don't mind stone chips, dust, and a new alignment for your vehicle. The neighborhood is many single wides with junk cars and occasional 7 am target practice.
The cabin uses a management company, unresponsive to my inquiries about specific amenities. After two inquiries, they finally responded...but I was already there
In summary, as with any rental, there are pros and cons. I would not choose this place again!
