My husband and I booked this Marriott for a special Memorial Day weekend to celebrate his birthday, expecting a relaxing getaway. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by multiple issues that fell far short of 4-star standards.
On Sunday morning, a 6 AM fire alarm jolted us awake. We rushed downstairs only to learn it was triggered by someone burning bacon in the kitchen—a disruptive and disappointing start to our vacation. The lobby was in disarray, with a leak causing buckets of water to clutter the space, completely ruining the ambiance. To our surprise, renting a microwave cost an extra $15, which felt unreasonable for a hotel of this caliber.
Worse, we spotted a possum roaming the property, adding to the sense of neglect. Checking out was a nightmare: the porte cochere was crumbling (with a car parked unsafely beneath), the front entrance was blocked, and the side entrance was locked from both sides. We struggled to find an accessible entrance just to return our keys.
Overall, this hotel’s poor maintenance, unexpected fees, and operational failures made our stay deeply disappointing. It does not deserve its 4-star rating, and we will not return to this Marriott—or any Marriott—after this experience. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a pleasant stay.
