Secluded mountain retreat

Aspen View Lodge offers the perfect mountain getaway. Your Colorado retreat begins at this 8 bedroom, 3.5-bathroom vacation rental home in an adventure lover’s paradise - the Dolores River Valley. With 4,500 square feet of living space, this home base is perfect for group retreats and events, or just to escape with friends and family. Situated on nearly 8 acres bordering the San Juan National Forest, this is an ideal base camp to explore the Southwest. Located minutes from hiking, ATVing, 4x4 trails, biking, fishing, and hunting, this place has it all! Nearby Cortez and Telluride! Just across the road from the Dolores River! Ideal for family reunions and weddings. The arch and benches shown in the pictures is a beautiful area to hold a ceremony. We do have an additional fee to hold an event on our property. Our lodge can sleep 26. We are centrally located between Cortez and Telluride offering a wide variety of restaurants, shopping, museums, National Parks and skiing. Only 20 minutes from McPhee Reservoir, one of the largest bodies of water in Colorado!

Though easily accessible from Highway 145, this cabin is nestled in the woods and has a very private feel. Imagine exploring thousands of acres of national forest directly from the property, filled with pine, oak, spruce, aspen and abounding with wildlife. Watch the Dolores River wind through the valley. Fish on the river or hike up one of many nearby trails. Take a day trip to Telluride and enjoy the free Gondola in one of Colorado's most pristine alpine mountain towns (40 min away). Take another day trip to some of the best preserved ancient native american ruins in North America at Mesa Verde National Park (45 min away). Or just enjoy the mountain air and relax in a quintessential Colorado setting at the cabin.

Please be prepared, if you are coming in the winter, for snowy and icy road conditions. We have a very long, steep and narrow driveway. Four wheel drive and/or heavy duty chains are required if you are coming in the winter in order to make it up our driveway. If you have at least one four wheel drive vehicle in your group, you can use that as a shuttle and park the rest of your vehicles down below. Thanks for your understanding, we don't want you to get stuck!

Great house for a winter family getaway in southern Colorado! Lots of bedrooms and kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'd need to cook for a large group. Wifi could be a little faster but added to thge charm and secluded vibe. And 40 minute drive from Telluride is a must!

This was the perfect place for us to host our wedding. It comfortably fit all of out party members (around 14 people). The wedding site was gorgeous and we had the most perfect wedding. I highly recomend this cabin if you are looking to host a small wedding or a family reunion. Please take their advice for 4wd vehicles seriously because the driveways are steep but so so worth it.The host and owners and quick to respond with any concerns or questions. The cabin has many accommodations for all your needs, as well as plenty of fridge space!

We had a wonderful stay with 23 of our family (four of our children, their spouses, and 13 of our grandchildren ranging in age from 4 to 18). The house was just as described and had everything we needed to have a fantastic time! We absolutely recommend it! With the 3 separate living rooms and the wrap around porch, there were plenty of spaces for separation, visiting, playing games, and enjoying nature. The kids really loved the treehouse and making tree branch forts. We were able to play in the river just a couple miles north several times, go to Mesa Verde National Park, Ouray Hot Springs pools, do several hikes, some climbed a 14'er, cook s'mores, and really enjoy nature and the beautiful mountains there. We saw a bear a couple times on the drive to Dolores. It was a remarkable time making memories. Thank you!

Not quite what they said. Every activity was two hours away. There was no close river access. The sewer had backed up the week before and the lower floor had not been cleaned well so it had an Oder they had tried to cover up. It did not have the amount of beds it advertized. Glad some had brought air mattresses. The property was very nice and the children had a fun time. I’m sorry my review couldn’t have been better.

Our Favorite Home Away From Home

This was our 5th year staying as a group of family and friends and again will not be our last. The place continues to be so inviting, clean, and comfortable and has the most relaxing views that I look forward to every year. We have more than enough space to spread out, and to gather by the fire table each evening on the deck. The house has everything anyone could need and especially in the kitchen to make great large meals. And we can never say enough about Anna the Property Manager. She is always so helpful when needed and we can always count on her being a text away to answer any questions. We are already booked for 2026 and will be counting down the days!
Hummingbirds are in abundance out of the dining window and on the deck (pro tip: don't wear red if sitting outside)

The stay was absolutely amazing! Such great communication from both the property managers and owners! Amazing property

We were all so impressed with the house and property. It was fully stocked with everything and absolutely beautiful. The house felt very spacious. We had 25 adults and it didn’t even feel like it! The fire pit outside is great and the fire on the patio is amazing also!! We can’t wait to stay here again for family reunions. I would say the only thing the house is missing is a hot tub!

We had 29 people stay here for our wedding and we even used the ceremony site and it was so amazing and beautiful the property is so pretty. We were visited by so much wild life mtn lion at night a bear 2 mornings in a row. The views from the cabin are to die for! The fact its so close to so many historic towns really add to the extra extploring you can do. I definitely want to rent with you again!

Family reunion for a celebration of life
