This house is filled with entertainment for all family members. It was nice to have easy access to the home and parking right outside. For cold weather which it was, there is a nice fireplace and an extra heater for the bedroom. Thanks for a great visit!

We loved our stay with Hiker's Haven! It's exactly as described with retro feel, waterbed, record player, and a bit of hipster vibe. I found the Redbone Record and played "Come on get Your Love" on the record player. I loved the charm, and my 16 year old daughter had me playing board games. Truly a fond experience. Thank you!

Great for those who like old classic board games and arcade games, puzzles, and just want a comfortable place to relax. There is a train that comes through a few times a day very close, which was loud, but was also just another novelty of this property. It was a truly incredible stay and we will be back! :)

My stay was for work but, turns out this House is a great place to stay while exploring the surrounding Northern California Cascade range or fishing the upper Sacramento River. It is conveniently located close to restaurants and shops in downtown. Also If you love trains you will love this rock Castle nestled into the side hill of this friendly town. House is filled with personality and you can tell was made to share with allot of love. Dena was an excellent host and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute and cozy place. Owners communicated with us to ensure they knew our arrival time so they could get the stove going and warm the place up! The waterbed was a unique experience, nice and warm and quite comfortable. Playing arcade games brought back fun memories. Had cream in the fridge for our morning coffee. Highly recommend if you are passing through!

We loved our stay at this house. Everything was neatly arranged in the kitchen for our convenience from coffee station to spices to napkins. The LP player and the retro gaming station were nice touches. Backyard was nice to hang out in. The train does come through a few times, but after a bit you get used to it. Dena and Leslie are super helpful hosts.

The house is conveniently located to several restaurants, a small grocery store and a local brew pub. The kitchen is well-stocked and the house is uniquely decorated.
We enjoyed listening to music on the turntable, and played a few board games together.
A huge bonus was the Osprey nest across the street with a baby s it’s parents. Loved hearing them call to one another!
We enjoyed a relaxing visit. Great Thrift store around the corner!!

Heather and I totally loved staying at the Hikers Haven. Check in was easy and instructions about wifi, recycling/trash, tv streaming, fireplace, ect. were easy to find and understand. The house is decorated with raven, rabbit, and clock themes which we liked. The stereo was top notch and had great sound for the classic rock and 90s grunge albums that were there. It is across the street from an active train yard but it didn't bother us at all. We are planning to visit again in the fall. Thank you Dena and Leslie❤️

My girlfriend and I stayed at Dena's place for a little over a week and it was fantastic. We loved being so close to town, walking around, and visiting all the shops. We talked and got to know a number of the locals. We were also super close to tons of amazing hikes! In the evenings we would put on some music and play arcade games for a few hours.
Early in our stay, our anxious pup unfortunately damaged their front door. Leslie was super responsive and came over to look at it right away. She asked if a crate would help us enjoy the trip more as we could leave more frequently, and when we agreed, she brought one over right away.
Overall, we would absolutely come back and stay at Dena's place again.

We had an okay stay; there were some issues however, that made it less than ideal. The refrigerator seemed to be breaking down— it was very noisy and barely cooled down our perishables. The kitchen had ants and the handsoaps were watered down to the point of being useless. The tub also needed to be scrubbed. We did enjoy a couple of the games and informative hiking books provided. There clearly was an effort to make guests feel comfortable in some areas, but it would have been nice if it was cleaner overall and had a more functional kitchen, especially if you want to cook.

The house was comfortable and we enjoyed the video game table and the wide variety of interesting books and music. I wouldn't call the waterbed waveless (we've had 2 waterbeds), and we found this one a bit sloshy. Used the wood stove heater for 2 days but I'm sensitive to smoke so we used the electric heater for the last 2 days. The town of Dunsmuir didn't offer much in the way of food or entertainment. Most of the restaurants we had researched prior to our visit were no longer open for business. We wound up driving to Mt. Shasta everyday for food and entertainment and really enjoyed the food, beer and staff at Pipeline Craft Taps and were able to sit outside with our dog.
