「Perfect getaway with a little sauna for a relax, sea is at the end of the road, tidy and plenty of space. Love the little touches around the place, everything was thought off, we will definitely be back!」

「This is a gorgeous little property. We met Diane as we arrived, she was so lovely and accommodating (nice little touch was the biscuits and doggy treats. The bedrooms were warm and comfortable, the kitchen/living area was small but well equipped (no cooking on holiday!). We will certainly go back to The Bothy next time we are in the area.」

「This was a very nice comfortable place. We had a little trouble finding it. Was easy to check in and out of. The only suggestion I would make was to put the exterior patio lights on a timer so that they turn off at night— if it’s hot and you have the window open then you have all the light from the patio. But it was very clean and comfortable.」

「Lovely tranquil location amidst countryside, easy drive to nearby places of interest. Dog friendly. Well equipped kitchen, bathroom and cosy living room and bedroom with all amenities to make this a great home from home stay for a couple of days. Warm welcome, friendly, attentive service from Hilary and staff. 1 minute walk to cafe for excellent breakfast, which we ate outdoors in sunshine. Excellent value, with the bonus of a free pass to Beamish Museum, which saved us 50. Short drive / walk to...

「Had a lovely time staying here for a few days. We had a couple of places we had on our bucket list and this was a good base. Didn’t get a chance to see the arch near by by as it was raining. Only advise would be to have a sign where the holiday homes are as we used the postcode and nav took us to road down the road. Thank you for loaning us your pass for the Beamish Living Museum, had a lovely day even though we got a little wet. 」

「Charming cottage, in a quiet location close to the Roman sites we wanted to visit along Hadrian's Wall. Stylish with comfortable beds and sofas and all we needed for self-catering - even solar garden lights for evening drink in sun. Lovely to be greeted with prosecco, beer and chocolates (thank you!) The position by railroad tracks that you have to call HQ to cross was a bit of a surprise, but we got the hang of it - a mini adventure every day we set out. More remote control and high tech...

「A very comfortable & well equipped cottage in a quiet location. The attractions of Durham are within easy reach.」

「The property was large and was a good base to use being about 20 minutes from a beach and about 10 minutes walk from a park with swings etc for the grandchildren. It was about 5 minutes drive from an Aldi and Lidl. 」

「Absolutely love this place. Very envious of the people who live there would swap places anytime with no hesitation. Highly recommend hope to go back soon.」

「Our stay over Christmas in the beautiful Kestral cottage was superb. Jean and Amy made us feel very welcome and went 'above & beyond' to make our stay perfect. The cottage has all the amenities you could ask for and was spotlessly clean. We would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to spend a quiet break in County Durham. Say hi to the llamas!」

「Had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights here with my partner and 3 daughters. A great place to get away and spend some quality time. It feels very remote but at the same time is close enough to drive or jump the train into Newcastle for the day. It was great sitting around the firepit in the evening after a soak in the hot tub! Plenty here for the whole family we would definitely stay again. 」

「Fantastic cottage with amazing views. The cottage has almost everything you need making it a very relaxing experience. Fields as far as the eye can see. Farmer Andy and his cows are very friendly. We had a very small problem and it was sorted out very quickly. 」

"Extremely poor service and stay. We were given a smaller room than we had asked for (images do not match the actual state of the room), and the air conditioner is broken; we were provided with fans but we do not have proper ventilation in our room, causing the room to be very hot and stuffy, and after taking a shower the room becomes very damp. Television does not work, and the fans aren't very good. There are also insect stains on the bedding. Service is misleading, we were told that our check out was at noon however we were urged to leave as soon as 11am came by, asking to charge us for overstaying in the hotel. Our belongings were held at the lobby as well because of this, and the staff were reluctant to return our belongings. Extremely disappointed at the service and conditions of the hotel, will not recommend it to anyone."
