Stay in the historic Coach House at Earnscleugh Castle (Heritage NZ Cat.1), 5 min to Clyde and 10 min to Alexandra, right by the Lake Dunstan Trail trailhead.
Restored 3-bed blending heritage brick with modern comforts: full kitchen, cosy lounge with wood burner, washer/dryer, safe parking and e-bike charging. Explore nearby wineries, wander century-old gardens, and ask about a private castle tour or free Clyde pick-up.
On the grounds of Earnscleugh Castle, this stone Coach House is a perfect base for exploring Central Otago. Carefully restored by your hosts, Ryan & Marco, it blends heritage character—exposed brick, timber, and thoughtful antiques—with modern ease: a fully equipped kitchen with farmhouse sink, a cosy lounge warmed by a wood burner, and three restful bedrooms (two Kings and one Twin). A modern bathroom, laundry, ample parking, and exterior e-bike charging make multi-day adventures simple.
Step out to the Lake Dunstan Trail at Clyde’s trailhead (start/finish), roll past turquoise water and vineyard country, then drift back for long showers and a glass of local Pinot. Travel at an easy pace—arrive and settle, ride the Lake Dunstan Trail, taste local Pinot, and, if timing allows, take a host-led look at the castle’s restoration (subject to availability).
