Perfect stay

I originally thought it would be a guesthouse quality in terms of cleanliness, but turned out it’s even cleaner than a hotel especially the bathroom. Everything looks new in the bathroom with a lot of towels available and the shower gel, shampoo etc. Reception is very nice and location is near bus stops where you can get to Edinburgh centre quite easily.

We loved our stay, the Leith area is a great places to stay. Full of amazing bakeries and dining options. Our room had everything we needed including the best shower we had in ages!! Craig was so helpful and his list of recommendations were all great

Positives: friendly staff (when around). Good sized rooms and fairly new bathrooms. Fridge in bedroom with milk, juice, cans etc. Large kitchen area to cook own food and fruit/milk etc provided. Close to Tesco and park. Negatives: Unclear how to get to the rear of the property to park and parking is touch and go whether you will get a space, especially with workmen using up spaces. Paper thin walls inside the stone building. Had to move after the first night as (what I now believe was someone in the private area below me) was watching an action film very loudly until 2am. Then the builders re-doing the roof start noisily at 8am. The next room on the same floor was quieter but only as I had an elderly lady in the room next to me. However, I could hear her coughing as if she was standing next to me. Duvets were thin and pillows very hard. There was an oil heater in the second room but my first night was chilly. Both rooms had a shower where the shower head wouldn't stay in position on the wall. Had to wash glass cups in both rooms as they had bits on them. Overall, I would not recommend - most things I could put up with but the noise issue is the deal-breaker and, for the price, it definitely is not worth all the negatives.

The manager there was incredibly friendly, the kitchen was clean and full of coffee, tea, and muffins. Not the most amazing location but has a tram stop to central Edinburgh a 2 minute walk away. Definitely would stay here again

Little gem

A little gem of a find. About 200 yards from the tram stop. Last minute booking due to train delays when we had to change our plans. The check in was great. Fridge in the room had been stocked with iron bru, water, milk, and breakfadt cakes. Lovely staff. Would certainly use this venue again.

Posizione molto semplice da raggiungere sia tramite tram dall'aeroporto (in 1 ora) che con i bus/tram da e per il centro città (in 15-20 minuti). Zona tranquilla e ben servita da pub, bar, supermercati e ristoranti. A disposizione l'utilizzo della cucina e snack inclusi trovati in camera. Ci torneremmo molto volentieri. Consigliato!

Not for everyone

I was using the property as a base for a two night stay. If you love your creature comforts this is not the place for you. However if you just want a bed at a very reasonable price in an historical building in a capital city this could be the place. Located close to the Port of Leith with a tram stop 200m from the property which gets you into the city centre in less than 20mins it is a great base to explore from.

The Pillars was located in a nice area with pubs and restraunts. It is close to the tram and neighborhood shops. The staff were great... they provided us with infomation on local activities, and quickly responded to any questions we had.
