“This property is OUTSTANDING. Utterly beautiful, amazing location, a real show stopper. I booked this as a surprise for my family and they were blown away. The views were just amazing and the house itself is so grand. The garden is lovely to sit out in and enjoy. There's also a fantastic walk in the woods just at the back of the property so you can get stuck in straight away without having to worry about parking. We can't wait to visit again.”

“We hired the bunkhouse for two nights of birthday celebrations and walking. Great location with stunning walks right outside the door. Wainwright’s Inn is a few steps away, as is the co-op with its little cafe upstairs. I hope to make our stay an annual event. Highly recommended!”

“This was a fabulous cottage for a family. Great location with some short walks with lovely views of perfect length for two kids age 5 and 6 (Rydal caves and Grasmere being our favourite). Great access to the lake for various boat based activities and an easy walk into Ambleside for some interesting shops (the Rock shop and toy shop were particularly interesting). Cottage itself was clean and cosy and had truly stunning views. Rooms over 3 floors so the kids expended some energy going up 2……

“Fantastic House. The pictures did not do it justice. It was way bigger than I was expecting. We had a family reunion with 17 adults and three children. There was plenty of room and different places for people to go to be alone if they wanted. The kids loved the games room and had so much fun. Would highly recommend it and we will definitely be visiting again.”

“Crook farm is a great base for a multi generational group (plus dogs) - so much to recommend it. Location - being able to walk up the Old Man from the house was amazing; a large, enclosed garden for the dogs - and younger members of the group to explore; and the house itself - comfortable, spacious and full of character. We all had a wonderful week. ”

“Booked this via VRBO and was forwarded to Hereward Cottages. Upon booking we were under the impression we had 4 bedrooms to use as we pleased - however, we were told (pretty rudely via email) the 4th bedroom was only suitable for children (even though the beds would have easily held a fully grown adult on the bottom bunk). We'd also booked two dogs but didn't check this at time of booking, again, being told pretty rudely 'they would have to check' this was ok (it was btw!).All in all the actual……
