"Even with the reviews, I did not realize just HOW NICE this hotel is until I walked into the lobby. The waterfall was over the top lovely, and the hotel staff were both kind and informative (I had questions about the city, the hotel, and how to arrange for transportation to the airport the next day). For convenience I had both dinner and the breakfast buffet in the morning at the hotel and enjoyed both. It is an easy walk to the historic center though there are 2-3 long and very industrial/commercial blocks to walk past along the way. As a tourist, I found these as interesting to see as the centro, though obviously for very different reasons. It would be easy to get a taxi or uber instead, though, if you prefer. I would stay here again."

"When I arrived to the hotel, it was extremely hot inside the hotel lobby, retail, and restaurant areas. My check in was pretty fast. When I arrived to the room it did not look like the pictures displayed when I made the reservation. There was a pile of dirty cups and dishes at the foot of the door to enter the room in the hallway. The room looked worn and the carpet smelled old. Not to mention the room was also extremely hot. The ac would not cool after it had been on for several hours. The lighting was very poor in the room as well and you could barely see yourself in the bathroom. I was there for a wedding and needed to do my own hair and makeup so this detail of lighting was important to me. I wouldn't say the place was dirty, just old and not in a cute vintage kind of way. It was so hot in the restaurant I left to eat elsewhere. The hotel seems on the outskirts of everything but not in the beautiful charming streets closer to the cathedral. I left to stay elsewhere several hours after checking in. Didn't even sleep in it one night, I was supposed to stay 4. Because I booked through Expedia, I lost my entire stay that I paid for. For these reasons I do not recommend this hotel for your San Miguel stay. There are way cuter places for for the same price or less. My fiends stayed at the Posada down the street for $500 for their entire stay. I paid $700 for mine."
