The Sanderling

"We loved the adult pool, but it could use additional umbrellas and umbrellas that adjust. Also there was service, but it was quite slow due to lack of staffing. The beach is okay and steep with a drop off in some areas. It's also short and the free umbrellas are small and don't provide much shade. We appreciated the coolers with electrolyte water at the entrance to the beach, but we did not spend any time on it other than to walk due to the heat, and these biting flies. The rooms are upgraded and nice, but our building had humidifiers running 24-7 and they were outside our room, and loud. The air in the room was wonderful though. Our room was attached to a LOUD family with a kid that had the loudest voice I've ever heard. Perhaps, keep adults on separate floors from children if possible. We like children, but that was nuts. The building inside is updated, outside is falling apart. Broken screen door on our room. Cobwebs and faded wood. The people providing service were lovely, but it was obvious they were overworked. One girl on an entire floor of rooms is not enough for good cleaning. They restocked and straightened up, but they weren't cleaning our bathroom daily. We did enjoy the restaurant. Very good food. The lunch bar by the pool was okay and the drinks weren't very good. My drink tasted like pure alcohol and I wasted it. Perhaps an actual mixologist if you charge these kinds of prices. Not 5 star."

"They have cookies at the front desk at 6:00 which by far is the best thing ever. The bedroom floor was a little sandy I understand that it's a beach resort but still the floor should have been vacuumed a little bit better. Breakfast is at 7:00 which is late and I miss it every time I'm here. But other than that the hotel is awesome."

"We had an amazing stay at The Inn for our first trip to the Outer Banks. The location was perfect with easy access to shops and restaurants, an easy walk or quick drive to the beach with easy parking. The onsite pool was a great way to keep the fun going after a day out and sunsets on the pier are breathtaking. Alexis took all of the guesswork out of where to eat and how to get around and she made sure our stay was enjoyable. Bruce was amazing with the kids, so pleasant, and brought great charm and character to our stay. For a family of 4 with 6 year old boys, we would absolutely recommend and we’d stay here again."

"The property is a lovely, quiet destination where you can relax and enjoy beautiful scenery. This is a a nature-lover’s delight as you can marvel at waterfront sunrise/sunsets, bird watch, fish, and cruise around on your kayaks (and that’s just at the property — Kitty Hawk beach is an easy 30 ride away). The renovations throughout and ample room sizes makes this an excellent choice for families. My husband and I plan to buy a set of those Turkish Cotton towels! They were an added bonus after a nice shower!! Highly recommended!! We would visit again."

"Hot tub 2 jets didn't work. Stove top two front burners cook on high. Found cheetos under the beds while cleaning. Screen door latch doesn't have a latch, so it would bang all day and night. Otherwise that is just maintained. I would highly recommend this property."

"Decent accommodations overall. Great location and room layout with multiple decks and large driveway. Huge kitchen with plenty of room for 30 people. Poor internet. No adequate broom or dustpan. Inadequate icemaker. One dishwasher inoperable."
