Quintessential Cabin Stay

We had a wonderful experience at Porte Haven, this was the perfect retreat for our two families to spend time together. The view at the cabin is incredible and all of the amenities you need to enjoy your stay are there. Will definitely plan to return down the road.

Gorgeous views

You won’t find better views of the lake anywhere - truly spectacular. The home sits as close to the lake as possible and the windows are large and abundant. Perfect lake and nature viewing for any season.

Best Place-Best People

Traveled much of the world but only want to return here. Constant spectacle of sunrises, the waters of "Death's Door", the Washington Island ferry, eagles, ducks, otters, and deep, incomparable peace.

Reliving the 🎩 magic!!

This place is gorgeous and has everything you need for a phenomenal getaway. Water, woods, seclusion, comfort, astounding views...it's hard to beat. And the spa bathrooms! I'm biased though. I came here to revisit the past as my grandparents' built the original home. Seeing their pictures and hearing the stories, I wanted to see for myself what amazing place it was. Door County Cabin collective just took it a step further (maybe a million) and made it just spectacular. It's a treasure place to stay and spend family or friend time. Thanks for more memories ❤️

Exceptional Stay!!

Fantastic communication from the very beginning. I had high expectations prior to our trip and was not disappointed. We loved the amenities and thought the location on the water was perfect! We could see Washington Island, Plum Island, and Pilot Island while inside or outside, what a view!

Unbelievable views in a warm setting

We really enjoyed our stay! A unique property that is well appointed, warm and inviting. The views and location are hard to beat. The location is away from the busyness of the towns on Highway 42, but not so far away that it hinders exploration of the popular spots in Door County. The house is charming and the host very responsive should you need anything. We will make a point to stay at this location again.

A Magical Time

A beautiful home with great amenities and the view was absolutely amazing!! We enjoyed listening to the waves crash into the rocks, and the sky was awe inspiring with the Milky Way directly above the house. We didn’t want to leave and are already planning our return trip.

Beautiful Space!

This property has such a great variety of beautiful spaces. There's lots of room to spread out, it would be really great for a group. There was more outdoor space than we expected, and we hope to come back during the warm season to enjoy the outdoors more. The views were amazing. We stayed in January and enjoyed watching the ever-changing ice landscape on the water, along with the ferry, a flock of loons, and a bald eagle hunting the shoreline that flew close to the cabin windows. We cooked up a storm in the well-stocked kitchen, and we especially loved the game room! House was very clean, and host communication was excellent. We love Porte Haven!

Amazing stay at Porte Haven!

We stayed at Porte Haven in June with our 3 kids (ages 14, 11 and 7) and our small dog. This was just what our family needed. While the usual highlights of our trip is the exploring we do in the town we are in, most of our memories were at the house, just hanging out and enjoying the amazing house. The house was perfect for our family of 5 and it has breathtaking views of the lake and just a very peaceful, serene place. The house had everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay and we are so happy we found this gem of a house. We will definitely be looking to book this again in the future!

Great week at Porte Haven

The View! Such a neat place to spend a week in Door County. Super clean and well appointed. Two fire pits with tons of seating. A great sun deck. Billiards. Darts. Game table. A huge kitchen. The showers are even unique and worth trying out each. The steam shower was awesome after a refreshing dip in Lake Michigan. The hosts are great and communication was awesome. And. The View!

Amazing week @ Porte Haven!

This was our second stay with Door County Cabin Collective, and our first at their jaw-dropping Porte Haven cabin. WOW. It was an absolutely perfect retreat for our small family — stunning sunrises, a swimmable rock beach with crystal clear water, an awesome game room, 2 fire pits, comfy TV room for movie nights, and on-and-on. My wife and I were both able to work during the day (flawless, high speed internet), and enjoying dining out, fishing, hiking and just relaxing on the deck in the evenings. Jeremy and Caitlyn truly think of everything in furnishing their cabins, and are always a text message away if you need anything. HIGHLY recommend!

Door County Diamond Among the Rocks

Our fourth time with Door County Collective and third time at Port Haven. A beautiful wooded and serene location makes us feel like we’re all alone at the top of the Door. Can’t get any closer to the water and the most outstanding view of the islands across Death’s Door. Watching the waves and the car ferry come and go is so relaxing. We appreciate their hardworking attention to detail. Our “home away from home” is spacious and clean, the kitchen/dining area is awesome and a great gathering place. Huge windows! The master bedroom has great views and its own balcony. We’re already scheduled for our next trip!

Extremely impressed with the facility and experience!!

We celebrated three milestone birthdays with our family (70, 60, and 50 yr old birthdays) with spouses. 6 adults in one facility can sometimes be too much over 4-5 days, but Port Haven was perfect for us all. Three bathrooms, and three very different style bedrooms( plus a fourth for the little ones had we brought any) kept everyone happy! Great pool table and dart board game room with a big TV for the Packer game, a super comfortable living room with fireplace, a huge kitchen and dining area for food and games, and a fantastic view of Washington Island and the ferry activity. Even a fire pit and deck outside facing the water- loved the list of items to bring and what NOT to bring was very helpful, along with places to visit, etc. Well done DC Cabins LLC- we will be back again!!! What a great experience!!!

Our fave lakeside retreat

Our family (husband, myself, two adult daughters and two dogs) had a great time at Porte Haven. There was plenty of room for all of us and we found all we needed for relaxing, playing games, cooking, baking Christmas cookies, and exploring Door County. The beds were VERY comfortable ( and I rarely sleep well away from home!) and we loved having 3 full baths. The jetted tub with TV was a treat we all tried out over the course of our 5 days there - LOVE! The unique architecture was attractive and comfortable - would love to know the story behind the design. We were hoping for snow but Lake Michigan literally at our doorstep provided plenty of entertainment instead. The crashing waves were so like the ocean it was hard to remember we were in the Midwest! We loved our wine trolly tour at Door County Winery n Al Johnson’s Swedish Pancakes. Hügelhaus had yummy German food. A great winter vacation, despite not a lick of snow.

Winter Paradise

We decided to try a winter getaway in Door County in the middle of March allowing for a high-end experience at reasonable price! The County is virtually a ghost town allowing you to take in the beauty at a comfortable pace from Egg Harbor to Gills Rock aka 'The End'. Peninsula State Park, White Gull Inn, Wild Tomato, Mink Basin (best onion rings!) and Jen's Windy Road were all enjoyed with no crowds to contend with making eating and site seeing a pleasure! We discovered a few shops and markets open this time of year. The home has a top-of-the-line (Viking) kitchen with all the amenities, super comfy bedrooms (especially the master bedroom with port holes for lake Michigan viewing and many unique artistic features to explore throughout the home. We enjoyed an afternoon sitting around a bon fire watching Lake Michigan in all its glory awaken from its winter slumber including the most spectacular moon gazing for a couple of nights. The game room provided hours of laughter and fun shooting pool and darts, who knew my sister was a pool shark! Jeremy, our host, was excellent! He provided detailed information before and throughout our stay adding to an already exceptional experience! We loved it!

Our new favorite spot...

My family and I have been long-weekending in Door County for years...and, to be frank, the trip had gotten a bit stale (same house, same activities, etc...). So, this year--we decided to change things up and find a new house to rent in Door County in a different area altogether. We landed on Porte Haven...and when I tell you that this reignited our love of Door County--I am not lying! The house was not only beautiful--but it was also able to easily accommodate all 8 of us and our 3 dogs. Our family is scattered about the U.S. so having a house like this with spaces for all of us to be together was spectacular. We watched scary movies in front of the fireplace on the huge couch that fit us all, had beautiful meals at the large dining table that were made in the chef's kitchen (which by the way--had the most beautiful view of the lake), sat out on the deck and watched sunrises, and even had an impromptu 'polar-ish plunge' in the lake. This is our 'new spot' moving forward.

Would live here if I could...

I waited to post my review because I'm honestly not sure where to start! We arrived after dark due to a family emergency (it was touch and go whether we would even make the trip) and after getting our bags inside I knew the first thing I needed to do was listen to those Lake Michigan waves. And we were not disappointed! If you are looking for a private sanctuary, enjoy sitting by a campfire and watching the ferry, ships and wildlife go by - look no further. We are ruined for any other vacation rental. There's plenty of space for families (if you need it), two different areas for campfires, multiple decks overlooking the water (I still can't decide which view is my favorite), walking distance to the ferry dock and a little town park. Truly a one-of-a-kind property in a magical location. As if that isn't enough, Jeremy is a text message away if you have questions - about anything. The communication from booking to check-out was phenomenal. Book it, you won't regret it.

Bucket list stay exceeded expectations!

Staying at Porte Haven was on my bucket list so I jumped at the chance when a long weekend opportunity opened up in early March. My husband and I were joined by our young adult children and family dog. We made so many memories in 3 short days. The views from the house are amazing. It feels like you are sitting right on top of the water. The sunrises were breathtaking and we even saw the northern lights! The house is so wonderful that you don’t want to leave it. I loved the cozy livingroom with a fireplace and bookshelf full of amazing titles. The gormet kitchen and large table for family meals. We watched the badger basketball game on the huge tv in the lower level while playing pool and darts. The bathrooms were a spa experience! I can only imagine how great the multiple outdoor living areas are in the warmer weather. The bonus of off season was zero crowds when we left the house to hike or watch the sunset at Ellison Bay County park (highly recommend). In the 3 days we watched Deaths Door go from completely covered in ice and snow to almost fully opened with floating ice. Who could say no to a quick ice bath followed by a steam shower on our last morning! Don’t hesitate to book this cabin any time of the year. You will be guaranteed a memory filled vacation.
