My sister and I return to the River House every fall. The hosts, David & Betsy, are wonderful. A large rain storm came the day of our scheduled departure and we requested an extension to our reservation. They generously agreed and made the extra night complimentary. This year we saw four eagles fishing on the river. Emlenton is a cute, quiet town with everything a visitor needs. Great stay!!!

Great location right on the bike trail

We came to the area for a family reunion and when we found out about the bike trail we brought them with us and were able to get a couple of nice long rides. Even got to see Freedom Falls. This will b great once they open up the southbound section.

A multigenerational reunion with biking, hiking, and fishing in northwestern Pennsylvania

The cottage was perfect for a reunion of the five of us. We bicycled on the Allegheny River Trail plus biking and hiking two other trails in this beautiful area. Our grandson also enjoyed fishing practically in the front yard of the property. We were very comfortable at the cottage and everything worked well for us.

Overall the home was very clean and in order. The grill was very dirty. Had to clean it before using. Parking was very tight. Small narrow driveway made it tough for existing/entering the vehicle. No HVAC. ONLY AC window units. One of the upstairs bedrooms didn't have air so was a bit warm when firat going to bed.

We couldn’t have asked for more from a cozy little river cottage vacation. Everything with the owners went smoothly.The view was breathtaking, the cottage felt so homely. It included everything but your food and clothes and if you needed anything it was just a short walk away. Plus there was a bonus with the neighborhood cat who welcomed and entertained us. We only wished that we could have stayed longer.

We arrived for a 2 day bike trip on the Allegheny Trail. Unfortunately, the weather chose not to cooperate. The house was so clean and would be perfect for anyone who wants to bike the trail.We left a day early because the severe rain, there was no chance of biking. We are hoping to be back to bike in the near future.

Great access to Allegheny River trail

Overall, this is a comfortable home to stay in. Sitting on the front porch is delightful, the river is peaceful, a visit from the kitty cat next-door welcomed. The downside is you hear the trucks down shifting all day long and all night which is why I give it a four. The host responded quickly to any questions or concerns. It is a five minute ride from the Allegheny River Trail , which is absolutely beautiful, and it was everything that I was looking for. It is a challenge to find close good restaurants right in Emleton. Check the website, call before going, hours vary from website..

Calmed my soul

Betsy & David's property was exactly what I needed to escape the bustle of Washington D.C. life. This property sits right at the end of a street and overlooks the river. The home is well stocked, clean, and the perfect size. Emlenton surprisingly had a lot to do! From bike trails to restaurants, it filled me up with a simple life feeling. The owners were extremely responsive from the booking to the last day of my stay. I fell in love with the front porch, complete with a night stream of lights and a fan, which welcomed me back after a late drink at the brewery in town. The Emlenton Fitness Center was exactly what I needed to clear my mind when I wasn't reading on the porch. Next time I am in town, this is my choice stay!

Beautiful scenery and quaint, fun town

Beautiful view of the river, beautiful backyard fire pit, easy walk to the town where there's a great winery and a great brewery with shuffleboard and pool table and duck pin bowling.. Otto's was a great hang out with pool tables. We didn't try the coffee house but there was a cute looking one there too. Just a short drive to foxburg winery and August falls winery. We recommend both. Super friendly people all around town. There was a surprise cat guest that we enjoyed. The rental is well stocked kitchen and not skimpy on the bath towels or the paper products. The only thing I would recommend are mirrors for in the two bedrooms. Because we were four girls and there wasn't enough makeup mirror spots. She is super friendly.

Biking and Fishing Opportunities Abound

Super convenient access to the Allegheny River Trail for outstanding biking, hiking, and fishing opportunities! There is an accessible fishing spot about a 50 minute bike ride upstream for walleye and smallmouth bass, .2 miles after the spooky tunnel (Rockland Tunnel). Bring a light! (There is parking, if you'd rather drive). It had rained quite a bit, the river flow was too fast, and the weeds were out of control, but your mileage may vary (it was late November, so we weren't expecting great conditions). Kahle lake is a short drive from the house if you're after large mouth bass. The river by the house is fairly shallow, so I'm not sure how well you'd do there. The pro move is to bring a small boat with a trolling motor so you can get to the deeper holes north (past the spooky tunnel) or south (near Parker or Foxburg). A kayak might work if you're in good shape! Great spot. Would stay again. p.s. There is a bonus cat

We had an amazing stay here! The house is absolutely beautiful, it’s so cozy and was the perfect place for our girls weekend! The area was also beautiful and had great areas to walk or hike. The host was so nice and communicated very quickly, they messaged a few hours before check in to let us know we could check in early if we wanted and was very understanding about an accident involving a shattered wine glass. Our perfect home away from home!

We Love everything about this rental! The location is perfect for visiting our family, the house is so cute and comfortable, and the front porch views are gorgeous! The beds are incredibly comfortable! The neighbors cat Bella greets us every time we stay and she is the sweetest!
