I loved this place. Clean, well-run resort hotel with a vintage vibe. The staff were great and made sure we could watch our country’s big World Cup game in the lounge. The courtyard and pool are fantastic, with a walkup bar just steps from the pool. Just the thing after a long day on the Caminho.

The Hotel Suave Mar was a pleasant stop walking the Portuguese Camino. The room was clean and the bed is comfortable. In addotion, the included buffet breakfast was excellent.

Comfortable stay

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The location was very nice as it was along the Camino trail and some view of water. I was greeted by a nice front desk clerk. I asked for hot tea and was provided some to take to my room.

Great hotel in a great location

This hotel, with a charming exterior, is all class inside. The rooms are well kept, as are the common areas. The breakfast buffet is tasty and well stocked, and the in-house restaurant a fine Portuguese dining experience. This would be wonderful hotel regardless of location, but to find it within walking distance to Praia de Esposende was a bonus.

We spent two nights here while we were on the Camino. It was very popular with pilgrims. The rooms were very clean comfortable and quiet. The hotel has a pool and bar which offer excellent bar food as an alternative to the restaurant. The bar staff offered outstanding service.

This hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and is heavily used by hikers walking the Camino, but it is currently in need of renovation. We stayed in a sea-view room, which turned out to be very small. Unfortunately, the bed was extremely hard, making it difficult to get a comfortable night's sleep. There was also a significant amount of traffic noise coming from the road because the doors are poorly insulated. On the positive side, the pool area is nice and well-maintained. The breakfast was okay, but in our opinion, it is not worth paying extra for. You can get much better food and a more authentic experience by stopping by one of the many local bakeries nearby instead. Overall, it works as a stopover, but a few upgrades would improve the experience significantly.

Loved the room and the pool. The staff in the bar was excellent and attentive! The front desk staff was not as nice. Could not find my reservation and made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. He told us we would be able to check in early and had us wait at the bar…for two hours, the original check in time.

We loved our stay at Suave Mar! It is right on the camino, so easy to get to while walking. The pool is wonderful and so relaxing after a long day of walking. There is a laundromat and a grocery store just around the corner which was very convenient. Our room was very nice and spacious, and we enjoyed our balcony.
