No proper service. Rooms were clean. But… bathrooms needed significant maintenance, lighting was poor, poor wifi, no drinking water bottles. Heater in room was not working well.
Clean towels, clean bed.
Would not recommend.
Attractive building with character and great staff
A quaint riad well located close to the médina. Of course one cannot expect maximum comfort in a 600 year old building, but staff Abdullah and Aziz are real gems who made the stay memorable.
Stayed 3 nights. Staff accomodated family despite reservation issues and offered free dinner first night, which was excellent. Aziz is a gem and really helped provide top notch sevice throughout the stay. Location is close to the medina with plenty of dining options.
The staff were fantastic, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them without being overbearing. This really made our short stay.
The Riad is on the lower edge of the Medina so as easy to find as any in Fes, minutes walk into the main part and downhill after a day of exploring.
The roof terrace has a wonderful 360 degree view over the city.

I loved my stay at this hotel! Stepping into this hotel is like stepping back in time. The architecture is gorgeous and adds so much character. But the real highlight was the exceptional service I received from Abdessamad. He was incredibly helpful, supportive, and went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. Thank you, Abdessamad, for everything!
Lovely big old building with antique furniture, lots of wood and mozaïc everywhere. The atrium alone is worth an overnight stay. Located 40 steps from a busy street on the edge of the soukh. Probably has the best view of the whole neighborhood. I recommend going on the roof early in the morning to take in the calls to prayer coming from every angle. But the best part of this place is the staf, very kind, hospitable, and helpful.
This is a very beautiful historic building, decorated by skilled artisans.
However, the strongest recommendation comes for the extremely helpful and kind staff. We have never been in a hotel or vacation property with such attentive and supportive staff.
It is obviously in the Medina, a quieter part, but the main attractions very walkable.
The shower/bathroom is basic ( as i guess showers did not exist when this building was erected. However, it was meticulously cleaned.
We would definitely recommend staying here.
We booked for 4 nights at Riad Ibn Khaldun while we were visiting Fès and the surrounding areas. The Riad is close to the Medina and many restaurant while sufficiently remote to be calm. The rooftop view is simply wonderful, the terrasse is higher than the Medina and you can see a big part of the city with the mountains in the background.
Abdessamad, the staff member we most interacted with, was simply lovely and helpful. Don’t be shy to ask him for some thé à la menthe on the rooftop, it’s always a welcome break from the lively Medina.
Fabulous riad! Hamid and Aziz are the main staff and they are Bothe fabulous. They went out of their way to get me some medicines when I was not feeling well and prepared them for me! The breakfast is phenomenal and I ate dinner in the Riad twice and it was amazing! There is no elevator, but this is typical of Riads. Fortunately, the young men are strong and could carry my bags up. The rooftop has an exceptional view.
It was an amazing looking Riad I had a beautiful big room! Aziz, Hamid the staff there were amazing, they couldn't do enough! The medina is not far from the Riad as well, and if you book tours, all tour groups ask you meet at the nearby Hotel Andilab. I got a taxi everywhere as everything was quite far, as the Blue Gate is around 30 minutes walk! Cost of taxis are not very expensive. There is many places to eat around the Riad and the staff will help you to where you want to go.As a solo female traveller, I found it safe!
This wonderful place is located in a tiny alley, just off the main road in the heart of the medina. If you arrive by plane, you can ask the driver to call the Riad. Someone will then pick you up at the main road. All the main sites of the medina are in walking distance. A delicious breakfast is served every morning. On our final day we had to leave early in order to catch the bus. They prepared us a breakfast package to take away. There is an excellent restaurant (Almandar) close to the Riad. Be aware that most of the rooms are located upstairs. There is no elevator and the stairs are rather steep. Overall, I highly recommend this wonderful place.
Riad Ibn Khaldoun is a charming and traditional Moroccan guesthouse that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of Rcif in old Fes.
From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a moroccan tea and beautiful Andalusian-style architecture a peaceful courtyard that creates a serene and relaxing environment.
One of the highlights of the stay is the exceptional hospitality provided by the staff, particularly Samad and L’alla Khadija. Their kindness and attentiveness ensure that every guest's needs are met with care and genuine warmth. Samad is always available in a good mood with a smile 🙂 ready to assist with anything required, making guests feel comfortable, safe, and valued throughout their stay.
The breakfast experience at Riad Ibn Khaldoun is truly outstanding. Each morning, lalla khadija and Samad treated us with delicious spread of traditional Moroccan dishes moroccan coffe, moroccan tea and fresh orange juice prepared with love and authenticity. The flavors are rich and satisfying.
For those looking for a place in Fes where they can feel both safe and at home, Riad Ibn Khaldoun is the perfect choice. It embodies the essence of Moroccan warmth, tradition, and comfort, making every stay unforgettable. Whether traveling alone, as a couple, or with family, this riad offers an experience that goes beyond just accommodation—it becomes a home away from home!!! shokran bezaf Samad and Khadija and the whole Staff of Riad Ibn Khaldoun!

I enjoyed my 2 nights stay at this riad which, architecturally. is spectacularly beautiful. Obviously for such an old and historic building it has pros and cons; pros are a very big room with great character and quiet for sleeping at night. Cons are that it is badly lit and place would benefit from some renovation, new things like carpets and a better shower

Room was decent bathroom was very old and worn out. Staff member was amazing really nice guy and very helpful.
This was a great stay, the room was much bigger than expected, the breakfast was filling, the beds were comfortable, the location was great as it was very close to where taxis can drop off and the wifi was great. The only negative was the shower - the water pressure was almost non existent when you wanted hot water and this wasn’t seen as an issue by staff unfortunately. Besides that, for the price, couldn’t fault it.
Outstanding service, Aziz is an excellent and welcoming person, I had a great stay, clean and comfortable bed, the only downside is the window have a cheap curtains, and no window cover, so I. The morning you will get hit by the sunlight and the noise from the outside, also no wifi or weak wifi whatsoever, the breakfast is free but nothing special, no proteins just alot of bread and sugar, I dont recommend their menu for lunch or dinner as it is expensive and not tasty at all.
Exceptional Riad. Absolutely stunning. My greeting by the two young men was fantastic and stay was great . Almost. We had a BIG hiccup upon my
Exit which I’ll accept partial responsibility for. When I booked with hotels.com, unknown to me my credit card was just a pre-auth for holding the room. I always pay ahead of time and did not realize the payment hadn’t been made by full already. Anyways, issues with the credit machine and I had to catch my ride to a 2 day tour. After multiple tries annd no luck with the machine , ( I was asked FOuR times..”don’t you have cash”, angrily had to go to the atm and withdraw cash putting me further behind as well as the advance fee from the machine which in total cost me an extra $20. I only
Book hotels that accept cards normally as I don’t like carrying around large sums of cash as a solo female traveller. Having paper trails of receipts is also ideal if you have an insurance claim. Anyways, overall great but a frustrating end to the stay. Also I saw a poor review regarding the stairs . Yep they’re narrow and difficult, but heads up yuppy travellers. There aren’t elevators in riads. If you have mobility issues, you’ll probably want to book a hotel but you’re missing out on authentic charm!
