Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Kerben escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, put in your passport, official ID, bank cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a phone filled with your favourite shows are always good options. If you plan to take a short nap, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you step off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Wear layers and opt for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to slip on and off.
- Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and move your legs and feet often.
