Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well prepared. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your La Garita escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, put in your passport, important documents, cash and medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a laptop crammed with your favourite movies are some great options. If you intend to take a quick snooze, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, find room for a few toiletry items to ensure you touchdown feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fireworks, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by wearing layers, and pick slightly roomy, flat shoes like sneakers.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
