Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Las Palmas could be no sweat at all or it could go on forever. Here are some useful tips that will help you start your next great escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you've got all the right gear. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find a spot in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your important medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) hiding in your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable products, such as fuel and fireworks, and liquids and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and choose shoes that are flat, roomy and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
