What to wear on a flight:

• Comfort should be your highest priority when choosing what to wear during your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a smart option, as are flat, enclosed shoes.
• Caused by sustained periods of immobility, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers on long-haul flights. Lower your risks by drinking water, keeping your ankles and legs moving and wearing compression socks to help improve your circulation.

• Security personnel first need to establish that you have a valid ID and boarding pass before you're allowed to proceed any further. Keep them within easy reach.
• Your belt, jacket, keys and other contents of your pockets, like coins, will need to go through the X-ray machine. Make the whole process easier by removing them as it gets closer to your turn.
• Electronic devices like phones and laptops will also have to go through the machine to be scanned. Don't worry though, you'll be back online soon enough.
• Remember to remove liquids and gels from your carry-on bag. They often need to be sent through the X-ray scanner separately. Each product should be in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and everything must fit in a quart-size (one litre), clear zip-lock bag.
• Lightweight sneakers are a sensible footwear choice as you're less likely to be required to remove them when passing through security. Big boots and other heavy shoes are often subjected to additional screening.
• Airlines won't allow any sharp or pointed objects in your carry-on luggage. If you must bring these kinds of items, check them in.
