  • Glass Beach is a beach in MacKerricher State Park near Fort Bragg, California, that is abundant in sea glass created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline near the northern part of the town. Once upon a time the sand was coated in brightly colored bits of sea glass, and social media is full of photos that make it look as if the sand still looks that way, but that isn't the case. Over the years the public has raided the beach of much of its glass. Now at first look, some might say it looks like any other ordinary beach. Yes you can still find glass here, but you have to look for it, and most of colored glass is long gone. It all makes for a fun little treasure hunt however! The parking was easy and right in front of the room, which was great for offloading. The balcony may have been small but it had an amazing view. The room was nice but had some basic amenities. It was not super luxurious but not too low budget. The bed was not the most comfortable but the main selling point was the view. Also being able to walk to the cliffs by the ocean located at the back of the hotel.

The hotel canceled my booking. When I called them, they said they notified Expedia. Expedia had sent me a message related to the cancellation. When I called the hotel, they said there was a problem with my card and that's why they canceled my reservation and gave the room to someone else. They didn't have any rooms available consequently I had to book another hotel at the last minute.

Nice, clean rooms and a beautiful view, but no housekeeping regardless of how long you stay. You have to go to the front office if you need towels, and you also have to empty your own garbage. Also, check-out is exactly at 11, and they will charge you an additional $100 if you stay past 11:15, which I think is unreasonable and excessive.

Our room was nice and clean. The rooms are a bit dated but fairly bug for the rate charged. We stayed during a holiday weekend so the place was full the first night and we had no noisy interruptions. We checked in without problems. Our room was downstairs and as rhe name implies we had an excellent view if the waves and sunsets. There is a constant parade of walkers, cyclists, scooters, runners and pet owner/walkers right in front of the small sitting area facing the ocean but it is to be expected along the former railway/trail between Ft. Bragg and MacKarricher State Park. The view alone is worth trying this place out.
