The Star Party program (~ 2 hours, depending on weather & crowd size) is fun for the entire family, and is open to everyone (reservations are nearly always required as this program frequently sells out.) Enjoy night sky constellation tours and views of celestial objects through a number of telescopes (varying in size up to a 24-inch Ritchey–Chrétien telescope) in the Rebecca Gale Telescope Park at the Visitors Center (i.e., NOT at the research telescopes at the top of our peaks) every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evening (schedule varies during the end-of-the-year holidays and Spring Break). Those with mobility issues, please note the distances involved with participating in the Star Party. There is a slight incline over that distance from the Center all the way through the Telescope Park to the Amphitheater with that latter structure being ~ 20 feet higher than the Center's front doors

"Our stay at the High Frontier Resort was only 3 days in the middle of the week, so we had the entire place to ourselves. Check-in was quick and easy, as our room keys were waiting and available at the door. Maggie (our hostess) stopped by the next day for a quick introduction and to make sure we had everything we needed. "Remote location was quiet and private but very close to Ft Davis as well as other area attractions (Mcdonald Observatory, Balmorhea State Park/San Solomon Springs Pool, Ft Davis State Park, Marfa, etc.) The cabin was clean, well-equipped and the bed was super-comfortable. Saw aoudad sheep and many Texas songbirds during our stay. There's hiking available with great views of this spectacular ranch property"

"Oh my, this was my FAVORITE VRBO! And I’ve stayed in many over the years. It was clean, comfortable, but most of all ENTERTAINING! There was so much art and books and even secret little hidey holes filled with history and art! Card games, art supplies, 2 tvs, a record player and plenty of outdoor seating for star gazing. If we hadn’t gone hiking in the Davis Mountains and just stayed in the cottage the whole time we would have still had a blast! We can’t wait to come back!"

"The hotel's floors squeaks badly. It someone was walking in their room other rooms could hear. No one on site to help anyone. We thought there was a restaurant downstairs and it was closed. We were looking for the old soda shop vibe. I think the hotel did not advertise correctly. Other than that Fort Davis is a great place."
