The house was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. A big plus, since we got in late, was a market just 400 feet down the street that is open late and a nice bakery right across the street. I just think there should be some mention of the stairs going to the bedrooms being a touch difficult to manage when you get to the top.

Liked: Check-in, communication, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
The property was close to the areas we wanted to explore and Heather, our host was very responsive to our questions and concerns. The property is on a busy highway with a lot of traffic. The oven was dirty and cooking pots/pans old and worn. We didn’t feel comfortable cooking meals there. Our bedrooms were comfortable and had televisions. We especially enjoyed the fire pit outside.
Three couples stayed for a wedding in Leesburg. Great place for the price. Well appointed and comfortable. Would not recommend for folks uncomfortable with stairs as the stairs are a bit challenging.
Visiting family over the holidays. Our trip was great. Location was perfect. Rental house accommodations fulfilled our needs, was clean and had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again.
House is awesome! Being a retired beekeeper, I really appreciated all the honeybee items throughout the house. Bakery across the street was awesome as well. I may have gained a few pounds though. Highly recommend this property.
We stayed at this property for a wedding in the area. The house was provided a great space to relax. It was well stocked and was the perfect location for all of our wedding festivities.
Stayed at the Rusty Rose after going tubing in Harper’s Ferry with friends. We loved hearing the cows mooing across the street but were still able to walk 2 min to the market or bakery next door which was neat. The beds are amazingly comfortable too.
The Rusty Rose was a nice house with adorable decorations. The bedrooms were spacious and clean. A lot of detail went into the house. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
The Rusty Rose and Jefferson were a great central location for a variety of other local adventures (Harper's Ferry, Frederick, Brunswick, Cunningham Falls, etc.) Having the bakery, meat market, fresh eggs, and more nearby was lovely and it was clear that Heather had put a lot of thought and detail into making it a comfortable stay. In the interest of helping other potential guests per other reviews, we found the antiques very manageable for our dog and toddler. Thanks very much for a great stay!
We really only stayed 12 hours while enroute to our final destination.... BUT, the beds were comfy, house was clean and the kitchen seemed well stocked with pots/pans and dishes! I wish we could have stayed longer but we'll definitely keep it on our list to come back to!!
It is a stunning house and absolutely does not look like a rental at all! The owner has meticulously decorated every single room. Even the back yard is adorable. It is warm and inviting. The beds are comfortable and so are the sheets. The kitchen is well stocked. The house was very clean, even with all of the decor. There is a fantastic bakery right across the street and a butcher that you must stop by to get meat and talk to the incredibly nice staff! There is some road noise and the towels could have been softer. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you for sharing your home.
A lovely renovated farmhouse in a cute small town. Our family enjoyed our Christmas holidays in Jefferson, MD. Lovely holiday decorations and a homey feel.
A great bakery across the street and a Dunkin a quick walk down the street. Close to the variety of Frederick and the train station.
The bedding is high quality and cozy with ample extra available. Ample hot water with a larger party.
The kitchen was well appointed. We appreciated the included coffee, sweeteners, and creamer.
This is a beautiful, clean, historic house. The king sized beds were very comfortable.
Jefferson is a pleasant town and the surroundings are picturesque. There’s a butcher shop across the street and fresh produce/egg stand a short walk down the road. (We had delicious breakfasts! )
Heather is very responsive! She answered my questions right away, and addressed a problem we had very professionally too. (We had trouble with some plumbing fixtures -due to the sediment in the well water-when we first arrived. After reaching out to Heather, and they were resolved within hours.)
One recommendation: I think placing a mirror somewhere in each bedroom would make it easier to get ready in the morning since the bathrooms are small.
Thank you for hosting us, Heather!
On the positive side - this home was very well equipped - we lacked for nothing from laundry detergent to K-cups. It was very clean and the TV and media connectivity was good.
I would not recommend this property to anyone who is the least bit challenged mobility-wise. The stairs are slick their configuration can be tricky for some folks. The house is old so there is no flow between the rooms. The house is FULL of antiques - to the point where one was not sure of where they could put their own stuff. The faux mantle in the kitchen needs to either be secured or the breakables taken off it. We understand that it is an old property, and the updates to the kitchen and baths were super well done but the host needs to remember that guests need room to put their own stuff and perhaps some de-cluttering would help.
Home was decorated super cute with a lot of thought and creativity. However that sometimes interferred with the functionality of it being an actual home. For example we had to put all the decorations on the flat surfaces in our bedroom on the floor just to have room to put our stuff on. We had to move a large super cute antique toy truck just to use the island. The home has all bright white or daylight LED lightbulbs so at night it was very harsh. We found one lamp in a bedroom (that had 4) and brought it in the living room as the lights there were crazy bright and sterile looking and not cozy at all. There are so many antique toys that looked adorable but owner sent an email before you arrived saying these were all carefully curated and don't let your kids play with them? There are no mirrors in 2 bedrooms yet have adorable guest room signs outside the rooms. Nicely appointed, comfy beds. Very little counter space in either bathroom. So while we appreciate the owner's good taste, it felt like a store was being decorated and not a home people are supposed to live in. Definitely hear the street noise in the front bedrooms but it quiets at night. Convenient, safe location with a wonderful bakery right across the street. The owner was very responsive to any question i had. Great intentions but maybe needs to spend a few nights there to improve tthe functionality.
Great house to use during our visit to Jefferson. Kitchen is well equipped, and coffee supplies are provided. Comfy beds plus air conditioning made for great sleep.
We loved visiting! Wish we could've stayed longer. The accommodations were great; super comfortable and inviting. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks for having us!
