"The pictures are super old and the rating is surprising. The staff was sweet and did offer an upgrade after I spent my first night sneezing and coughing all night since there was a very strong smell and had to keep the windows open but their dusty blankets gave me an allergic reaction. The staff is nice but the facilities were old and not well maintained. Also the special bath they have on-site smells like onions and there are multiple chipped tiles. Ajisai Onsen Ryokan - Award Winning Private Open Air Onsen Hakone
10/10 Excellent
"Great for families looking for some traditional serenity. Tucked away with ability to book private onsen. Yes as a base when exploring Hakone, but get ready to walk."
"Loved the private hot tub in the room. Hated that they didn't have room service or vending machines after the restaurant closed. We couldn't even get Uber Eats delivered; not much was open around the hotel."
"A very thoughtful set up and breakfast is way better than how they advertised it. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Free shuttle to Kawaguchigo station but only 20 min walk if you want to do it. A 7 min walk to a grocery stores which open kind of late at 9am. Not too many restaurants around so plan accordingly. "
"Absolutely gorgeous hotel. The rooms were spacious and well thought out. We stayed just one night but could easily have spent more time at the hotel and exploring the area."
"The room we got was specious and a nice view if Mt. Fuji. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Ms. Iwai. She was always there when I need help for anything and always assisted with a sweet smile on her face. "
