Welcome to Purple Pearl - where the rooms are light, airy and roomy and just waiting for you to come and enjoy your trip to Galveston where you are so close to the beach if you were any closer you'd have to arrive by boat!

When Beryl came to Galveston in late 2024 - the home spent some time alone - well, not alone - it was being lovingly restored from roof to flooring to almost everything in between. This is the New & Improved version and if you have stayed with us before at Salty Dog you will recognize this home - but you might not recognize it from the outside as it also got a fresh new coat of paint (over all new siding!) and you guessed it - it's PURPLE! The purple pearl has a lore about it - several, in fact. . In some stories, the purple pearl is a powerful artifact sought for its magic or historical significance, while in others, it's a valuable item connected to specific characters or events. However you think of it - it's the place where you and your loved ones will make memories to last a lifetime!

3 bedrooms (king bed in master, two sets of bunks - twin over twin bunk beds and third room has twin over double bunks plus twin bed & trundle, AND there is a sleeper sofa in the living room! So many choices! Don't fight over the TV - there is a smart TV in each bedroom and the living room. Remember to bring your own usernames/passwords for your streaming platforms - and sign out when you are headed home.

A full suite of full sized appliances in the kitchen, and a stacked washer/dryer plus dining area with nice table for eating, a rowdy game of go-fish, or working a puzzle.

But the best part - of course - is that you are literally steps to the beach! You won't get closer and you won't be happier.

$75 per dog fee per approved dog (we must approve in advance, there are size and breed restrictions, and a maximum of 2 dogs permitted during any stay).

My Galveston Getaway provides starter supplies of toiletries, paper products, dish cleaning options and coffee to get our guests started and situated before making their shopping lists and determining which shopping option works best for their group. These supplies are not intended to last your entire group the duration of your stay - but to get started!

We also provide one bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth for each guest that the unit sleeps, along with 2 dish towels. Should you wish to have additional housekeeping services during your stay or to have linen swaps during your stay, these can be arranged with advance notice upon request at an additional cost. Don't want to pack your beach towels? We have "loaners" available for this home the charge is $65 for 13 towels - which is only the cost to launder them all. We do require a deposit and any that are not returned will be charged at $25 per towel. Beach towels are not included unless you request them.

A couple of things to note - the living/dining room area has many windows that are high up and are not covered so while there is lots of natural light - whoever ends up sleeping on the sleeper sofa should be a sound sleeper or they will awaken with the sunrise each day of your trip. Because we are literally steps from the beach, and the gulf winds do blow (look up Glenn Campbell's song "Galveston") the driveway is always covered in sand and it just cannot be avoided. Just be careful driving in and out - don't rev your engine - the tires could get stuck in the sand of the driveway. It's almost exactly like driving on and parking on the beach itself.

We provide driving directions and self check in instructions. We are a text, call or phone call away - but in general we leave our guests alone to enjoy their Galveston Getaway.

After making your reservation you will receive a link to complete our renters' agreement. The only information we request differently than the booking platforms (VRBO/AirBnB) is your personal email address, the names and ages of each person who will be in the property during your stay, and your driver’s license information as well as an emergency contact should we need to reach someone on your behalf. Thank you for completing this in a timely manner so that we may send you the check-in instructions for the property you have reserved.

WE ARE UNABLE TO SEND YOUR CONFIRMATION INFORMATION UNTIL THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS ALL RECEIVED IN OUR OFFICE.

Galveston is a barrier island located in the Gulf of Mexico. The island is susceptible to rainstorms, thunderstorms and even a hurricane now and then. Sometimes these result in temporary power and WiFi outages. We strongly encourage our renters to consider purchasing trip interruption/cancellation protection either through the platform that you book through or some other source. My Galveston Getaway issues refunds if a governmental official issues a mandatory evacuation of the island. Unfortunately we are unable to control sunshine, temperatures and mosquitos and do not refund other than pursuant to our policy based on evacuation orders. Thank you for understanding.


For all reservations made directly through our website and through VRBO, there is a $300 security deposit “hold” required. You certainly can purchase trip cancellation/interruption coverage through those platforms as well if you so desire, this is a damage “deposit” hold. This is released once our housekeepers advise that the property has been left in the condition received with no damages occurring during your stay. This is not a charge, but a hold on the credit card on file with which the reservation is made. Should there be damages and they exceed $300 to repair or replace, you will be notified and asked to make arrangements to compensate for those items.
