Studio Wijtvliet is located in a black weatherboarded Zeeland barn on the edge of the small village of Geersdijk and has a surface area of approximately 55 m2, divided over two floors. When furnishing the holiday home, we were inspired by the colours of the orchard behind the studio with apple, pear, plum, cherry, walnut and fig trees.
Interior
The ground floor has a full kitchen and living room with sitting area (smart TV; sofa can be used as a sofa bed) and dining area and a bathroom.
On the first floor, in addition to the sleeping area with double bed, there is also a space for writing, drawing/painting or making music. There is good Wi-Fi in and around the house.
From the house you look out over the Wijtvliet and the surrounding fields.
Exterior
Behind the house is a private terrace (approx. 15 m2) with a view of the orchard, meadows, fields and the Wijtvliet. There is a charging point for electric bicycles. Bicycles you bring along can be parked next to the house or in a separate storage room next to the landlord's house. The holiday home has its own parking space for the car.
Surroundings
The Veerse Meer (with a nice beach) is 1 km (walking) away and the North Sea (Banjaardstrand, the cleanest beach in the Netherlands) is 8 km away. There are various nice walking routes in the immediate vicinity, including along field edges. And Noord-Beveland has been declared the best cycling municipality in the Netherlands. You can cycle large stretches outside the dike, along the water.
Noord-Beveland is also called "endless island". Although connected to Schouwen-Duiveland, Walcheren and Zuid-Beveland via Zeelandbrug, Oosterscheldekering, Veersedam or Zandkreekdam, it is completely surrounded by the water of the North Sea, Oosterschelde and Veerse Meer. The history of the island has been characterised by the battle against the water throughout the centuries. Many traces of this can still be found in the landscape.
