Gena's Sierra Inn & Restaurant
8/10 Good
"When we arrived at Genas, we were informed we should have pre-registered 24 hours before arriving and that we had received an email. When I checked it had come in about 2 am of the day we arrived. I had to charge up my iPad, so drove down to a restaurant about 10 minutes away. After I pre-registered, paid my Security Deposit, I was supposed to wait up to 4 hours to get the code to the room. We went back to the restaurant attached to Genas, and the girl there gave me the code so we could get in. Was nerve-racking. Room small but clean. About 6-8” inbetween toilet and getting into shower, but we are both thin so got in sideways. No fridge or microwave, but we brought our own Keruig. The great thing about the place was the food and the staff at the attached restaurant— it was amazing. Ginas place grew on us. It was only 20 minutes from Kings Canyon, so that was really convenient. I would return, but wished I had been aware of pre-registration. Battery on door died, so we couldn’t get into room second night, but the Handiman came right over and replaced battery. Glad we returned before restaurant closed. Everyone friendly and helpful so that really helped!"

"Very charming and was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t realize the restroom and shower facilities were in separate buildings, but that didn’t impact our stay. Cabin area is quiet and private. Location was excellent and close to park entrance."

"Such a cute and rustic little cabin! Perfect for lovers of unique spaces and history. It has a lot of little quirks that a modern home doesn't, but I loved staying here and experiencing them all. The back deck was lovely too. It's a perfect for exploring Sequoia and Kings Canyon, and a few doors down from a great new market where you can get groceries, gifts, maps, etc."
Historic Cabin inside Kings Canyon National Park

"Two thumbs up and 5 stars! This house is one of the closest to the entrance to both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Perfect spot to stay for visiting both Parks.Hosts were friendly, helpful and responded to inquiries promptly.Besides the National Parks, the 10 acre property is a destination by itself. We had fun walking through the apple orchard and down to the pond. There is a friendly goat on the premises (highlight for the kids). As described, we witnessed one of the best sunsets I've ever seen in my life, and the stargazing was phenomenal. Saw quite a few satellites. The house was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed to cook, but is also walking distance to the Pinehurst Lodge; (pretty much the only restaurant/bar in the area without quite a drive).Hosts said they can cater to large groups, and we can return with extended family. Bring your tents and overflow onto the 10 acres. We will be returning in the future.Too much stuff to fit in a review. Great place. Check it out."
