At Høgstein Lighthouse, a unique experience awaits you in the original lighthouse keeper's residence from 1860. Here you can enjoy the tranquility of a historic log cabin where time stands still, while watching sheep, ducks, and chickens stroll peacefully around the yard.
The authentic interior has been carefully preserved with original colors from the era, while the house has been upgraded with modern conveniences. Two dining rooms provide ample space for meals, while the living room invites cozy evenings in front of the antique wood-burning stove. On the second floor, you will find two bedrooms with fantastic sea views and a newly renovated bathroom.
From the east-facing entrance, you can enjoy the sunrise with your morning coffee while watching the wildlife in the yard. The large 18-acre property stretches all the way down to the sea and provides a feeling of timeless tranquility and peace. We live in the orange house next door, but we are very keen to ensure that you have a pleasant stay with privacy. If you need anything, we are here to help.
For those who are particularly interested, it is also possible to participate in bird ringing and bird watching.
From the lighthouse keeper's residence, it is a short distance to beautiful nature experiences. You can explore the trail to Godøyfjellet, walk the coastal path to Alnes lighthouse, or simply enjoy the spectacular view of the sea and the bird island of Runde. Despite the remote feeling, it is only 15 minutes to both Ålesund city center and the airport.
The house can be rented together with the other charming house on the farm, which can accommodate a total of 7 people – please contact the host when booking for more information.
