Com a falta de uso o castelo foi-se degradando. Recentemente foi recuperado e classificado como Monumento Nacional. É também considerado Patrimônio Mundial pela UNESCO. Um lugar cheio de história e que foi berço de Portugal. Não é à toa que em um pedaço da muralha original tem os dizeres “Aqui nasceu Portugal”. The Castle of Guimarães began with a monastery built by Mumadona Dias in the 10th century, before, therefore, the formation of Portugal. As the attacks of the Moors were frequent they decided to build a wall to protect the community and the monks that lived inside. It was this fort that gave origin to the Castle of Guimarães. Later, in the twelfth century, it was in this castle that Dom Afonso Henriques was born. Some years after he would become the first king of Portugal. With the lack of use the castle was degrading. Recently it was recovered and classified as National Monument. It is also considered World Heritage by UNESCO. A place full of history and that was cradle of Portugal. It is no wonder that in a piece of the original wall has the words "Here was born Portugal".

Comfortable place in a sweet spot

Very nice place, comfortable with all you need for a good stay. The host was really helpful giving us plenty of recommendations for restaurants, parking and activities.

This was on a fourth floor lockup and was stylishly set up with a loft with stairs and even a slide for little kids. Everything was very modern and compact and the air conditioning working really well. Unfortunately, our check-in experience was less than satisfactory due to problems with Expedia information and difficulty in contact of the owner. We struggled to get check-in information could eventually got it sorted down. Expedia needs to make sure all of our information is correct. And the chat to Old within Expedia and should be accessible by the owner.

Nice room but lacking basic necessities. Hot water heater runs out of hot water fairly quickly. Cleaning staff not consistent. Room was not cleaned last night and ran out of shampoo and toilet paper. Property is being run as a cash cow. Missing light bulb cover, toilet paper holder, soap and conditioner holder in shower, mirror in bathroom too low to see face for shaving. Not enough light over bathroom sink. Etc.

J'étais sous les toits et franchement appartement très agréable un peu bruyant le matin dû aux travaux juste à côté mais sinon super !! la cuisine est fonctionnel bien équipée, la salle de bain sympa. Bref tout est top.!!! Attention nous sommes en centre-ville pour se garer. Parfois c'est un peu compliqué mais franchement on trouve.

L’hébergement en soi est très bien. Toutefois, la communication avec les responsables plutôt ardu. Aucune information concernant l’accès ne nous avait été transmise par courriel comme précisé par Expédia lors de la réservation. Par chance qu’un membre du personnel quittait l’endroit. Cette personne nous a gentiment aidé pour communiquer avec les propriétaires.
