## Neighborhood

Haarlem enjoys a perfect location, within 20 minutes of Amsterdam and with the beach as its backyard. It is not surprising that Amsterdam’s little sister is popular with both locals and visitors. From Haarlem, you can enjoy the fabulous Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, stunning country estates, seaside and Spaarnwoude recreation area. Not to forget the colourful Bollenstreek (Bulb Region) and Keukenhof gardens just around the corner.

## Transit

Close to Haarlem station and a good starting point for excursions to Amsterdam (only 20 minutes by train), Keukenhof or Zandvoort beach (10 minutes by train).

Getting to and around Haarlem by public transport is quite convenient. Schiphol Airport is well connected by train and will take you about 30 minutes. The capital city of Amsterdam and Zandvoort beach are both only 15 minutes away. We will share a handy website to plan your route.

By car the airport is about 20 minutes and Amsterdam 20 to 30 depending on your exact destination.
Paid parking is possible at Parking De Appelaar at Damstraat 12

What a great place. It was our hub for exploring and was a prefect location. Close to some great food, Transportation, and so forth. The unit was great. Quiet and easy to relax after a long day exploring. Haarlem was so great. We were here for F1 and would stay here again.

We had a wonderful time in Haarlem, you are extremely central and can walk everywhere. The view from the apartment is of the beautiful canal. The beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed though please do note it does not have an oven only a microwave. Also we handled the stairs fine but they are steep stairs right upon entry so carrying up our large suitcase was tough. Our kids ages 5 and 9 handled it fine but something to note that I don't think we fully realized from the listing that there were more stairs than the ones in the pictures to the bedroom.

Great location

Pros - Great location and easy check in. Cons - Stairs to 2nd floor bedroom challenging at night, especially for kids. Minimal linens provided. Some materials in the apt are out of date or missing (brochure had wrong check out time, old phone # to contact host). Windows need to be propped open (heat wave during our stay), but materials to prop open with minimal/hidden.

Tolle Lage im Zentrum von Haarlem

Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.Die Wohnung liegt direkt an einer Gracht,man hat einen schönen Blick aus der Wohnung.Direkt um die Ecke ist die Innenstadt,alles ist fußläufig zu erreichen. Der steile Treppenaufstieg lohnt sich.

Location, location

Location cannot be beaten. Beautiful outlook on the River and close to an abundance of food choices and shops. Station is a pleasant 15 min walk. The steep stair climb to the apartment is challenging particularly with luggage but is totally worth the view and did not impede our stay at all. Beds were comfortable and accommodation was clean. We did have a trouble working the oven (no microwave) so appliance instructions would have been handy as we gave up in the end. Overall, we had a fantastic time in Haarlem and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Just perfect!!

WOW!! I can not say enough about how great this property is. Location is perfect, walkable to countless eateries and shops and beautiful scenery everywhere you look. Many have mentioned the stairs, yes, there are many steps so beware of the weight of the luggage you bring and just go slow, but honestly, I would say it is part of the charm. We did not cook at the apartment, but it seemed to be very well stocked if you wanted to. Beds were very comfy. Would certainly stay again if ever in the area!

Location Location Location!!!!

An excellent location! So with this review, I want to share the good, and bad of our stay. GOOD : - Location! - Comfortable Beds - View from living room - Internet Access - Laundry *Washer only, and requires hang dry of your clothes. Thankful there are hangers in each closet - Large dining table I made communication with the VRBO host about an issue with the oven, and made note of several other bits of info and changes that would benefit future guest. So that brings me to the next section... BAD : - prepare yourself for the staircase! The first run of stairs going up is steep, and includes 2 additional spiral portions before making it to the main door. BEWARE THE LOW BEAM. I was focused on getting the kids up the stairs while dragging suitcases and doing my best not to fall, I completely overlooked the "Low Beam" on the second spiral portion of the stairs. Almost knocked myself unconscious on the first ascent! - In the photos we were excited to find a place with a full kitchen and an oven! Sadly, the oven was not functional for out stay. After reviewing photos from the VRBO listing, it appears 2 of the buttons were missing. Upon our first attempt using after arrival, there were 4 buttons missing. - Communication. We hadnt received communication from VRBO with key access or other useful information until after arriving at the door and making a request on the VRBO site. Standing outside with the family and suitcases wasnt expected. -please get info on trash locations

The perfect place for our trip to Holland!

We chose Haarlem as our home base for our trip to Holland. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to stay! This home was so clean and comfortable. It was perfect for exploring the area and close to the train station to go to Amsterdam. We rented bikes nearby and spent the day exploring the area, national park and even the seaside. It was such a cozy place and it felt like home. Highly recommended.

Super Lage

Die Fewo liegt super an der Saarne und zentrumsnah. Hoch zur Wohnung geht eine sehr steile Treppe. Für Älter schwierig und mit schwerem Gepäck eine Herausforderung. Sollte man erwähnen. Sonst ist die Wohnung gräumig und gut ausgestattet. Es waren pro Person ein Duschhandtuch und normales Handbuch da. Mehr Geschirrtücher wäre sinnvoll. Parken schwierig und teuer. Wir haben das Auto in Frontelein abgeparkt. Ca15 bis 20min zu Fuss und wesentlich billiger. Haarlem ist sehr schön und man kann alles mit dem Zug erreichen. Amsterdam Zandfoort Alkmaar.

Netherlands trip

Charming 400 + year old house on the spaarne canal. Beautiful views from the giant windows. Walking distance from all the sites in the city. Stayed here for 8 days while in the Netherlands, traveling to many other towns. Bus stop is just minutes from the front door, easy access to the rest of the country. We would highly recommend this beautiful spot.

La casa es amplia pero necesita restauración, fundamentalmente en el baño. El suelo de la casa suelo es de moqueta y también necesitaría un cambio. No estaba especialmente limpia. Las escaleras de acceso a la vivienda son de bastante dificultad, no son aptas para cualquier persona, además fue muy incómodo subir y bajar maletas. La casa dispone de lavadora, pero no y facilitan ni tendedero ni una plancha, lo solicité al propietario y se negó a proporcionarlo. La ubicación de la casa es muy buena y la ciudad muy agradable y bonita.

Great location, but not a valued guest

A great location close to lot of quaint cafes and the town center square. Easy access to bus stop. Front windows overlook canal for an interesting view of all that goes on with boating activity. This 400 year old canal house is a gem, but the decor and amenities do not live up to the possibilities that this property could offer. This accommodation was pretty clean, but very very basic. Reminded us of staying a buddy’s flat while he is out of town for Spring Break from University. Would I stay here again… yes definitely for the location… but not for making me feel like a valued guest.

Vi hadde et veldig bra opphold i en kjekk leilighet som lå perfekt til. Typisk Nederlandsk hus vil jeg tro med bratt trapp opp til selve boenheten, men det gikk veldig bra for oss.

Schöne Wohnung in perfekter Lage

Alles war wie erwartet für ein altes Grachtenhaus. Die Wohnung hat viel Charme und die hohen Decken machten es besonders. Einziger Kritikpunkt sind die Fenster. Fast überhaupt nicht zu öffnen und wenn nur wenige Zentimeter. Da wir Temperaturen von ca. 38/39 Grad hatten, waren die Nächte, besonders unter dem Dach dementsprechend. Die beiden Ventilatoren haben da auch nicht mehr viel geholfen. Abgesehen davon war es ein schöner Aufenthalt.

Toll, aber überholungsbedürftig

Das Objekt liegt in bester Lage. Der Blick aus dem WZ ist unbezahlbar. Die Schlafmöglichkeiten gehen zum ruhigen Hinterhof. Es gibt aber eine Reihe von Maßnahmen die anstehen. Die trüben den Gesamteindruck ein wenig, aber die Lage holt alles wieder raus. (schon klar da macht man ungern eine Woche Sanierungspause). Die Dusche benötigt einen Dichtungsring, die Jalousie im Arbeitszimmer ist Teil defekt, der Fenstermechanismus muß bei allen Fenstern überprüft werden im Wohnzimmer intensiver. Das Geschirr bedarf einer Auffüllung, im Kühlschrank ist das untere Fach gerissen die Pfannen und Topfgriffe sollten wieder einmal befestigt werden(Küche sonst ausreichend). Über alles ein positives Feedback, mit leicht zu verdienender Luft nach oben. Die Unterlagen zur Abreise waren zwischen Auslage und Mail unterschiedlich. Viele Grüße Micharl Tiedke (PS. Absolut angenehm!

Wir konnten diese Unterkunft genießen! Selbstverständlich handelt es sich um ein altes Grachtenhaus - und entsprechende Eigenschaften (z.B. sehr steile Treppe). Doch die ruhige und so zentrale Lage ist unbedingt hervorzuheben, dazu die Aussicht und die ehrlich beschriebene großzügige Wohnung. Auch die Abwicklung war absolut problemlos. - Wünschenswert wäre eine Vorab-Information zur Ausstattung (Bettwäsche, Handtücher, Fön). - Und zu bemänglen war höchstens das Eisfach des Kühlschranks, da nicht fachgerecht geschlossen und daher vereist ... --- Empfehlenswert!
