Magnificent views from our 2 Bedroom well appointed, comfortable family home

  • Taransay Cottage is a two bedroom detached single level chalet style house with captivating views out over the beaches and hills of Harris including the island of Taransay from which it took its name. It is available for 7 day bookings Saturday to Saturday throughout the year. There is 1 x Double bedroom and 1 x twin room (folding bed also available) Bathroom with double shower (no bath, but facilities for bathing small children provided) well equipped kitchen leading through to a dining room which also has 2 armchairs (which usually become the most popular seats in the house) from which you can take in the views over a cup of coffee. The spacious sitting room has comfortable seating, more great views, books and games and a large TV. The house is a 5 minute walk from the first beach and there are many more to choose from all accessible on foot. The village is served with frequent public transport, has a visiting mobile shop and also has a cabin selling seafood and local produce from the croft.

Very well equipped and cosy cottage. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Great views and a short walk to a lovely nearby beach. Nearby Croft 36 a must visit with lovely bakery products and filled rolls. Don’t miss a visit to AS Apothecary just along the road in Leverburgh.Highly recommend this cottage.

A wonderful warm, well equipped, comfortable cottage with lovely views from the big windows. Beautiful beaches a 10 minute walk away. The bread shed in the village to get fresh rolls, pizza and ready meals. Complete peace. Lovely

Taransay Cottage is a dream! Our second stay here. We feel so at home with everything in the cottage needed to ensure we have the best time no matter the weather. The location is perfect. Close enough to walk to the most beautiful beaches. Stunning sunsets. Great to order freshly made pizza from Croft 36 just across the road!A few minutes drive to have the best fish and chips washed down with Great beer and wine at The Brewery on The Pier Leverburgh. Played 9 holes golf on what must be one of the most scenic golf courses. Walked a different beach every day.Only slight issue was the matress was a bit too soft for us and we didnt ever manage to work out how to turn on the radiator in the bathroom for drying towels but there is a tumble dryer so it wasn't a real issue. We loved our stay and will be back. Thank you.

This is a great property, set in a small coastal village with amazing views over the salt marsh and sea beyond which is teaming with seabirds and waders. It is spacious, clean and has every home comfort you would need. The owners have gone out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A great base for exploring the island!

Love Harris and the property location is ideal for us. Check in was easy and smooth. Kitchen facilities are good and there’s plenty utensils, but feel new oven/hob may be needed soon!
