  • The Gem Theatre (previously known as Kinema Theatre, Hub Theatre) was built in 1909. In 1924, one of the reels of film got stuck in the projector and caught fire, igniting a full reel in the lower magazine. Only the outer shell of the theater survived the fire. The Kinema was rebuilt "as near fireproof as possible" and reopened in 1924. The Kinema Theatre was renamed the Hub Theatre in 1928. In 1933, the theatre was renovated and renamed it the Gem Theatre. After the advent of television, the theater could not attract large enough crowds to pay film rental fees. The Gem Theatre closed about 1986. The title of the last movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, remained on the marquee for ten years as the theater sat idle. Sometime after this the theater was again damaged by fire. Mark Childs, owner of Childs Construction, and his wife Heather, a retired dancer, purchased the Gem Theatre in April 2010, after moving to Panguitch from Henderson, Nevada.  After replacing the building's fire-damaged roof, the Childs rebuilt the Gem Theatre's interior and reopened it on 28 May 2011.

The accommodations were very nice, just as advertised. Very quiet and peaceful. The host was very responsive to any questions we had. The Sevier Coffee Company was in close proximity and highly recommended.

The cabin was perfect for our needs. It was away from the crush of the parks but close enough that driving was not a challenge. We met some good folks while staying as well. Dining in Hatch is limited but the kitchen was great and we prepared most of our own meals. The stars at night were amazing too!

We stayed here mid-September- GREAT location for visiting Bryce Canyon and Red Canyon. Nice and quiet, clean, and cozy. Tranquil grounds to relax after a long day of hiking. Good advice on their website to stop at SuperWalmart for groceries in Cedar City ... really nothing else close.

Such a quiet and lovely place to unwind and do some stargazing. Really nice kitchen with new appliances and dishwater, beautiful tile throughout, and super comfortable beds. Very close to both Zion and Bryce, and other natural spots. The cattle and the horses came up to the fence close to our place, and the pinto enjoyed a good scratch under her chin. Loved it all!

Wonderful for star gazing!

We had a great stay in this lovely cabin. Bed was very comfortable, kitchen very well supplied and there is a great outdoors area for star gazing in wide open skies! About 30 mins from Bryce Canyon, with great coffee shop and restaurant nearby

Quiet serene Getaway

We loved coming back from a challenging day of hiking to a quiet place off the beaten track. It was a joy to escape the touristy Bryce Canyon City with poor restaurants. We enjoyed the restaurants in Hatch the best. If you don't fly and can bring your own cuisine or buy and prepare meals from the grocery store it's a better option. Watching the birds, prairie dogs, wesels, deer, and cattle was enjoyable.

We had a wonderful stay in the Bryce Canyon area, and found that Hatch was not too off the beaten path to drive to Bryce and also some of the other nearby sights. We ate at The Outlaw restaurant, and had coffee and breakfast each morning at the Hatch Coffee Shop (excellent). We did leave a day earlier than expected, and did reach out to the owner to let him know. Both my husband and I struggled sleeping due to the very soft mattress. After the 3rd night, we made a decision to be on our way with our trip, and headed to Zion National Park. Everything else was very nice, a little remote and limited restaurants for sure, but the mattress really was challenging.

This was a great stay! Stayed for one night while going from Zion to Bryce Canyon. The cabin was exactly as pictured and was clean and comfortable. I appreciate the heads up to eat and get groceries ahead of time as there is nothing in the immediate surrounding area. We would absolutely stay again!

Comfortable stay, beautiful spot

I took my mother to Bryce Canyon and Zion for her birthday and luckily, I found this spot to stay for a couple of nights. When we arrived, there were deer grazing on the lawn right next to the cabin. We stayed in Farrier’s Quarters, and it was very cozy and cute. The beds were comfortable and it was perfect for what we were looking for. It even smelled great like the wood that it is built out of. It was very quiet and peaceful with beautiful views.. Would definitely stay again!

Hatch stay at Sevier River Ranch

Enjoyed our stay at the ranch. Convenient to Bryce and Zion parks. Property was as advertised. The scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Only improvement I could suggest is to have some BBQ tools in unit. We grilled one night but made do with what we had.
