"The large property was excellently presented with the most amazing views over Coverack Bay. It was prepared to a very high standard with everything you could possibly need however one shower wasn't working which was a slight inconvenience as the owner wasn't able to get it fixed during our stay. We would highly recommend staying at Penmarth House. We all loved playing ball games on the large lower lawn and the family of rabbits living in the garden kept us amused."

"The setting was perfect, the description of a woodland retreat was spot on. We loved sitting gazing out at the squirrels playing in the trees and were lucky enough to have them come up to the door and peer in. After leaving out almonds for them we had daily visits.Seagulls Rest was beautifully styled, it felt welcoming and cosy. Thank.you to Tina who was so helpful with our enquiries. "This is almost a review of two halves. Firstly, the staff and the food we had at the hotel were excellent. The views are fantastic and the ability to access Polurrian Beach & Cove makes the stay blissful even if you did not leave the surrounding area - Mullion the closest town is easily walkable. The hotel is being extended and renovated - which is very exciting and they have done an excellent job at keeping it out of eyeline and with limited noise impact. That being said there was no real information about it nor the impact on the facilities - the outdoor pool is closed. Whilst this would not have changed us going it should be more obviously communicated especially on the hotel website. There are a couple of points I want to call out: 1. I asked for our room to be cleaned in the morning and it wasn't done by the time we got back, too late to have it cleaned, in the evening 2. In parts the hotel still looks a bit tired and some maintenance is not proactively done 3. A bar that has to be told how to make a gin martini is not a good sign. It's a classic drink 4. Need of an alternative bar for when weddings are on. Banishing people from the only social space is not ideal. This may improve with the extension but not great especially in this weather I would go back, but for a 4* hotel there are some areas it needs to improve."

"A stunning 2 bed house 2 minutes from the beach. The property included a little garden and a parking space across the road. The decorative condition was immaculate and it had all the conscience items you need. Thoughtfully, the owner even coffee capsules, basic items for cooking ( salt pepper, olive oil etc) as a much welcome bottle of Merlot to celebrate our arrival. And Lenny ( our doggie) was left a handful of really lovely biscuits - or so he tells us.The beds were super comfortable and everything was clean. It's amazing how clean the place was considering it's dog friendly. Lots of work, I'm sure but we appreciated it.Porthallow is a lovely little village at the end of a typical twisty, hilly, narrow Cornwall road. A pub, a bistro cafe and great people. Idyllic! Talk to the fishermen repairing their lobster cages at the end of the beach, have the crab salad at The Fat Apple, definitely try the sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream at rte Five Pilchards."

Housel Bay Hotel

"We had a most enjoyable four night stay at the Housel Bay hotel. A fantastic location with gorgeous sea views from the Terrace restaurant and patios outside. We had a fairly small but perfectly adequate room on the 2nd floor (lift worked perfectly) with a country view, which we thought was very good value. Not much space to hang clothes but OK. Bathroom was spotless and shower was great. Delicious breakfasts and all the staff were helpful and charming. We had one evening meal there, which was delicious if rather pricey, The only fault was that the plug on the washbasin was faulty and needed replacing as the water just ran away. I did report this, and hope it will be repaired for future guests. Thoroughly recommended overall, and we may well make a return visit."
