My intention is to leave a fair review of our stay - there were high highs and very low lows.
The good. The home and property is obviously beautiful. There is a lot of space, a lot of ways to enjoy the outdoor areas, plenty of sitting areas, etc. There are more than enough chairs, a fire pit, wagons to haul stuff around, etc., really just has a lot of the soft extras that make it very enjoyable.
Hendersonville is an easy 15-minute drive and is a beautiful town with a lot to do/see/enjoy. Parks, food, hikes, etc.
The bad. First, the biggest issue is with trying to communicate with Vacasa. Unless you pick up the phone and call them you wont get a response. I sent many emails and texts over the month before our stay wth no reply. Once you do get someone on the phone, they don't have a clue about the property or area. Getting answers is a pain if you're used to booking directly from a homeowner who knows every square inch of their home, amenities, and the local area.
There were a lot of annoying items like no stoppers in the tubs, a lot of stuff in the kitchen but none of it quite what you need, uncomfortable beds or beds that are smaller than the box spring under them, etc.
The biggest issue was yellow jackets. I get that you can't control nature but there were double-grapefruit-sized nests over every door or under the steps of every exit - it's negligent. Within 2 hours of arriving 3 kids were stung multiple times, before the trip was over all 9 children were stung, one went to the ER. The next morning after we arrived I reached out to Vasasa about it, and requested they send someone out asap, and they did nothing. Someone responded and said they would contact the local agent but I heard nothing until the night before our check out. It's really quite egregious. The reason you book 21 acres is because you want to enjoy the outdoor space and we were completely robbed of that. The local agent was very nice and apologetic, she recognized they completely dropped the ball and did offer a very small refund but really we're still left very frustrated, jaded, and have an ER bill that could have been avoided.
