Having just spent two weeks island-hopping and staying in a variety of hotels and "resort" properties in Hawaii -- this charming, high-tech little home was by far the best (hands down the most-comfortable bed, too!). The hosts have clearly spent a great deal of time and creative energy landscaping this tranquil garden environment replete with koi pond, native plants, a burbling waterfall, an outdoor shower and kitchen, and a large hot tub perfect for stargazing. We loved our stay; with close proximity to the Volcano National Park and Kilauea, this property truly is an oasis amid the tropical paradise of the Big Island.

One of the best rentals we've stayed at, and we've stayed at a bunch! The backyard we spectacular! We loved the hottub, outdoor shower, waterfall/pond to feed the fish, and the landscaping was gorgeous - plenty of spots to sit outside in the shade and out of the rain if it's raining. The inside was comfortable and just the right amount of space for two people. Also, the little touches like the thick and soft toilet paper, coconut popsicles in the freezer, and bath robes were especially appreciated! Thank you Dana and Gregory - you have a magical and special place!

Greg and Dana are wonderful hosts. The space was better than described with a beautiful backyard garden and koi pond, super comfortable bed and pillows, options for indoor or outdoor shower, laundry facilities, and an amazing outdoor kitchen we utilized to make stir-fry noodles with ahi pokè with a fresh tuna i caught the previous day. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Close to rainbow falls and Kaŭmana Caves too.

First of all, this property is gorgeous and set up perfectly, not to mention the private hot tub! My husband and I booked Rivendell Oasis while in Hawaii for the Merrie Monarch Festival and it was nice to have a quiet place to go back to each day after being around a lot of people. It wasn’t so far from downtown to not be able to enjoy a quick meal when we wanted but we also got to enjoy the natural nighttime sounds instead of cars driving by. I loved to just sit outside and listen to the pond (and rain) while reading a book or just watching the lizards and birds. The lovely hosts have the property well stocked with kitchen gadgets for what we needed and more. Lastly, Simon was the sweetest kitty and I melted when he jumped up on my lap and took a nap!

The outdoor kitchen was absolutely wonderful. The choice to do laundry at no cost was wonderful. So great not to go home with dirty clothes. Location was close to lots of different waterfalls and water parks. It was a joy staying here except ear plugs are a good choice for the bird that sqauwked all night. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

Very clean and close to DT Hilo

The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay, including a jacuzzi that was perfect for a long day of hiking. The location was peaceful and just a short drive to DT Hilo and an even shorter drive to Rainbow Falls, Boiling pots and those caves (I forgot their names). The owners were very friendly and welcomed us as we arrived. We would definitely stay here again.
