The location is fantastic! In walking distance to beach, many restaurants, galleries. The building itself is older and it shows. It’s a basic good option for a place to land to do other things. The kitchen is basic, functional. The bed was comfortable. But there are a few things that could be done to improve the experience, such as add more light in the bedroom, replace the shower curtain and drapes.
The unit is in a great location - walking distance to the beach, zoo, aquarium and shopping. The parking garage is a major hassle. I had to trouble leaving the garage every day. The process using the scanned receipt seems unnecessarily complicated.
This unit was not inviting as it desperately needed a fresh look. It was a very tiring appeal. The unit did not have any niceties, no decor except for a plastic orchid. The living room furniture was uncomfortable and the king size bed was horrible. We could not sleep on it lengthwise but had to rearrange the sheets and blankets to sleep sideways across the bed. The furniture and particularly the bed was our biggest complaint. For those that rent this unit for more than a few days, it would have been nice if the owners supplied things like salt/pepper, maybe some cooking oil and more than just an itty bitty bottle of dish soap, and there wasn’t any dish towels to find. It was a lot of money for what little we got. Clean and no bugs.
A great place to stay if vacationing or visiting your kid at UofH
This is our third or fourth time staying at Island Colony. Our first choice for reasonable accommodations when visiting Waikiki. An older building but well maintained with good amenities and service.
The apartment was adequately furnished. The views were very limited.

Nice Place, but bring Raid!
The condo and building were pretty nice, and in a good central location. But there were LOTS of cockroach's at night. We contacted Vacasa the next day, but they did nothing to help with the problem.

Great location
The Vacasa itself was older and dated quite a bit. The air conditioner is very loud. The bed was uncomfortable, and the sheets were dusty. The hide a bed couch, and the living room needs to be replaced ASAP . It was uncomfortable sinks in the middle of the mattress. The door frame to the entry door to the unit looked like it had been broken into in the past and did not look too secure. It needs to be replaced asap . All the dishes and appliances were clean TVs worked.

Great experience (from a French)
I was a bit worried as it was the first time I had been dealing with Vacasa; I am French, and used to travelling abroad, namely to the USA. I crossed fingers this wouldn't be a scam...I was so happy they were totally up to my expectations. Everything worked out fine perfectly! The appartment was nice and clean, only the sofa/bed was really poor when turned into a bed (definitely not ok for 2 adults, springs hurt and noisy..but for one small person, it was kind of ok)
The view was so nice: on the canal and the other one on Waikiki center and on the ocean (a tiny bit but still nice). Our nights were quiet, a plus. One thing I do not understand, why the window panes on the balcony are not double glazed (noise and heat). Some of the panes can be opened up vertically, which doesn't exist in my country and is really noisy and also lets the heat get inside. We only have double (see triple) glazing against noise and heat/cold.
Altogether, we had a perfect time there!! Would recommend it and come back.

No major complaints!
Basically, you get what you pay for! Wouldn't not recommend the place for those traveling on a budget, however there are a few things I wished I'd known about the place beforehand. 1) The sink in the bathroom takes FOREVER to drain - so be very careful not to leave the sink on or unattended for too long 2) There are cockroaches (or some form of bug that we found throughout the place 3) There is no salt, pepper or oil - which are usually a staple in airbnb's 4) Very little toilet paper was left - this is an essential item that airbnb's are meant to leave more than enough of 5) A VIBORATOR, LUBE and CONDOMS were left in the bedside table.....so just goes to show how thorough cleaning is 6) No sheets were left for the pull out couch 7) The microwave works, but the oven part does not (will start and then will just shut down and take several hours to start back up) 8) Communication was non-existent - we emailed and texted about potentially have a later check-out time and got no response - a no would have been just fine, but a response either way would have been nice 9) Elevators took forever. Overall, you get what you pay for !! Wasn't the worst place I've stayed, wasn't the best!

Great location, meets your needs, could use updating
Nice views and a great location for the best Waikiki has to offer - beaches, dining, shopping. As a family it was great to have a place to make some breakfast. Our feedback is - the linens were sparse and like much of the furniture and paint it could all use a refresh.
What a wonderful stay! Family friendly, well- maintained property!
Thank you to Vacasa, the property management company for fast responses and offering credit. First, Vacasa responded quickly to my questions. On top of that, they kindly brought more toliet paper and kindly offered credit towards my early check out due to the COVID-19 crisis. My family and I definitely will return after virus settles down. There was a fantastic view from the room as well as great temperature so I didn't need to turn on the air-conditioning or fan. The swimming pool was very clean and we enjoyed our time spent there. Most importantly, there were no bugs in our room so our family had no idea why all the previous reviews speaked so negatively about this matter. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would highly recommend to others.

Have stayed at the Island Colony - various rooms many times and have never been disappointed. The location is great for everyone and any concerns are handled promptly and with care and understanding. Thank you for another great trip to Waikiki!!
The property has a really old and tired "motel" feel to it. The air conditioning unit did not work - other than producing loud noise. The towels provided were near threadbare. Despite asking repeatedly about early check-in (by one hour), we had to wait there for the property manager to call the cleaning ladies (who according to the reception finished their job hours ago) before being let in. There was no instruction for the check out process: when I asked I got canned responses that didn't even fit the property (e.g. "Put the keys in the lock box" when there was no lock box).
The area has plenty of restaurants and eateries, but if you want to buy fresh groceries to cook yourself, know that there is no grocery stores within walking distance: only convenience stores. There is a decent convenience store on the 6th floor the building.
The pool is usually busy. Waikiki beach is about 8-10 minutes away on foot.

IC 1620
The Island Colony is a well situated building close to everything. The management company is great to work with and attempts to make your stay a comfortable one. IC 1620 really is not Newly Renovated as advertised. It may have had some past improvements but, by no means they are not recent. The furniture is adequate but, the pull out sofa requires a new mattress, and the kitchen is not adequately supplied with utensils and glassware.
