Had a clean room and decent time finding our way in. Was somewhat tricky to find information about how to contact staff/when their hours were but we got along fine. No complaints about the room itself!

We stayed two weeks here, making this spot our hub for our sightseeing outings around south of England. The room we had was spacious overlooking a very large garden creating a sense of being at "home" rather than feeling trapped in a hotel. Staff lives on the ground and are very helpful. Ample parking space so easy parking for larger SUVs. There are supermarkets close by, so there is an easy supply of fresh fruits and vegetable during our stay. Nice pubs nearby. Close enough to walk and get on the train to go into London without worrying about parking. Overall, we had an really nice stay.

Hookwood Lodge is a good place for a quick one night stay as it’s so close to the airport and cheap. Positive, shuttle to airport if needed , inexpensive place to stay, great Pub walking distance with wonderful food. Negative, no where to hang any clothes!,no wardrobe ,bathroom is a complete “ wet room” when taking a shower, no where at all to put toiletries. Very noisy guests which I understand is not the fault of the lodge.

As this place is so close to the airport, we used it to stay 1-night before flying. However it is not well setup for this function. Gravel surfaces make it hard to drag luggage around. The calm relaxing facilities were a bit wasted on us when simply transferring to/from the airport. Also being unstaffed makes it harder for those who dont know the UK well. However, it was clean, bed was good & we had no issues during our stay. There were no hangers to hang clothes in the room which was frustrating and the pillows were hard and flat.

We booked this last minute for a stay the night before a morning flight and got a very good rate. So good we really didn't expect much so when we saw the size of the room and facilities we were pleasantly surprised. Had we have paid full price we probably wouldn't have been. It's very old, very tired and really needs a refresh. The building and grounds are lovely and the pub just down the road does really good. So if you get it at the right price it's definitely worth it.
