“Hugely overpriced. I’m not saying that it is not a comfortable stay, but I would rate it a 5 star out of 10. Firstly, staff are not really helpful/ welcoming, the welcome drink was nice, but the waiter who served it didn’t give a single smile the whole time. We asked for two separate beds when we booked online but were given one king bed, luckily they double checked and changed the room for us. “Backyard Balangoda provides a great Sri Lankan experience, complete with a very friendly dog named Bruno! The incredibly kind owner made sure we had a wonderful stay, sharing interesting information about local life and tasty food. Breakfast, made with local ingredients, was wonderful, especially the tea from his garden and his own roasted coffee. Be sure to try the special Cinnamon Infused Ice Tea – it’s also lovely with some lemon gin in the evening! The scenery is amazing, and the waterfall……

“Stayed here for one night after climbing Adam’s Peak and it was perfect for the rest and sleep that was needed. The property was clean, including the room which had a big, comfy bed and hot water. No ac needed as it got chilly in the evening, there was a warm duvet. Staff were extremely nice and friendly, making sure we were well attended do. Food was excellent - we asked to meet with the chef so we could thank him personally as it was that good. All food was cooked fresh. We left early the next……

“Stayed for 4 nights on the off chance we would have to curfew following the election date but glad we had the extra time here. The hotel has been closed for renovation but has recent opened 1.5 months and I could not fault it! The rooms are beautifully designed, lots of space, beautiful Mountain View’s (we had one of the sunrise view rooms but I understand they also have sunset views too) and all amenities included. Decor around the accommodation itself are also beautiful. Very well designed……

“酒店门前的确在修路，从市区10公里过来的路要开半小时。估计还要修个把月。酒店不大，一共能接待10几个住客，但是该有的都有了。餐饮不是其他大酒店的自助，反倒可以支持随点随做，甚至早餐。使得更有一种家的感觉。泳池的确没有加热，比较冷。我很喜欢花园草坪。可以在黄昏时爬上后面的茶山看日落。风景如画。几个小问题，酒店没有外币兑换，不能安排什么DAY TOUR，晚餐价格比起当地水平贵了一些。是值得推荐的酒店。”

“The hotel is like a small one but very warm. I arrived at 2030 at night and they were already closing the restaurant. When they knew I haven't have dinner yet, they (only the owner and a staff) insisted to make a dinner for me freshly. Although it took them quite a while, their passion and heart to service the guest were really great. I was travelling alone and they stayed until like 10 to make my dinner and waited until I finish before they go.”
