It was a quite peaceful stay. I was worried that it would be a sketchy spot to stay but it wasn't. The staff were super friendly also. And it's close to gas stations and food places

The guy at the front desk didn’t speak English and was not very friendly. I had to wake him up out of his hotel room to get breakfast, but really there was no breakfast like advertised. The bars were expired in 2023 and the coffee had been sitting in the pot for probably a month. Don’t be fooled by the free to go breakfast that is advertised. The bed was comfy but the room smelled like smoke and the hairdryer was from the 70s. I get that it was only $100 but I would expect this to be a $50 hotel instead. It was, however, quiet which was nice. Unless you are desperate, I wouldn’t go back.

Rooms were clean and adequate, beds were comfortable and everything worked as it should. Decor is a bit outdated. Air conditioner didn't work in first room they assigned us to, but worked fine in second room. Pool is closed, restaurant attached is closed. Could be so much better but was fine for our one night stay

Avoid at all costs!

If you book through a 3rd party and prepay for your room they will ask for your card upon checking and charge you more and say its a deposit then never put back on your card. Avoid here at all costs!

Typical 2star motel. Had the average amenities. Front desk person very kind and available for daily housekeeping. The downside was the free wifi, def not high speed. Was there for business so I ended up leaving because of terrible connection.

Great Value and Clean

My son and I went downstate for the Michigan game, And didn’t really feel like spending $200 for a room. This place was in our price range and we just needed hot water and comfy beds. The Magnuson was a nice stay. Staff was friendly, we had a microwave, fridge and a nice tv … and comfy beds. Now if you’re a princess or have a high maintenance spouse, don’t come here… then all of us won’t have to read a long winded or dramatic review about how terrible it was. The Magnuson Hotel in Howell Michigan is not The Four Seasons, but it is a nice little hotel that we were satisfied with for the night.

Pet Travelers Beware

The room was clean, staff was friendly and was a fair price for the room but unfortunately on the listing under "pets" it says it is pet friendly and up to two twenty-pound dogs can stay. However, you have to look under "fees" to see that there is actually a fee for a pet to stay. I have always found in the past that if there is a fee the hotel lists them under "pets". I found this experience to be deceptive, but I don't know if it is the hotel's fault or hotels.com.

This location definitely needs some updates. One example was the blow dryer (see photo) or is that a vacuum? Also, I got a little surprise when I got there & saw a sign saying "No pets"! When I inquired about that (since the booking indicated that it was pet friendly) I was told that they had limited rooms & that I should've called them directly after making the reservations! On top of that, I was charged an additional $45/day (pet fee), but was told that it's normally $75/day, so they apparently were giving me a deal! I had a similiar situation like this one (at a different hotel chain) when I booked through a third party.

Very disappointed! False advertising on their website, it showed a pool and Wooly Bullys restaurant/bar in their parking lot. Both were closed and have been for awhile according to the guy that checked me in. The air conditioning unit is loud (a ringing noise). There is a nasty dirt ring around the bottom of the tub, looks like it hasnt been cleaned ever. The laminate flooring at the foot of the bed isn't cut properly and is a trip hazard. I didn't see anything about a pet fee online but they charged me $45, that's way more than most places. I have a very disappointed 6 year-old that was looking forward to playing in the pool. I would not recommend this place and I won't be staying here again.
