Great location. Can snorkel directly from the incredible beach. Only negative is the food. Primarily all French with little to no American food. In fact we were the only Americans staying at the hotel. Language challenge was a bit of a problem in the dining room. Overall it was a very good experience.

BEAUTIFUL hotel! Snorkeling off the beach was stunning. Bungalows are in excellent condition.
The beachfront bungalow my daughter and I stayed in was perfect for us. The water is perfect and everything you need is here. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are very helpful if you need anything. The food was fantastic-we ate most of our meals here. We had a perfect vacation here and would highly recommend Hotel Le Mahana to couples or families.
It is a wonderful place. Safe beautiful and all workers are kind and helpful.
It is on the best beach of the all island full of coral and fishes.
They have free kayaks and paddle boarding and the restaurant is one of the best of French Polinesia.
Very friendly welcome and nice rooms let you start your stay here in the best way
Having breakfast on the beach in front of a coral garden helps too
You can spend here a week without moving thanks to the good restaurant and the close by options for lunch or dinner and the coral garden great for snorkeling
But, it is highly recommended to rent a car and tour the small but beautiful island of Huahine by your own
And a boat tour or two are also recommended ( you can easily book them at the reception)
The cocktails are also pretty good but to have a feeling of the island, you must go dine out time to time and visit the two or three extraordinary and quiet beaches
Very quiet beautiful location. Staff made us welcome as soon as we arrived. Pick up at ferry was right on time with a comfortable ride. Staff was very helpful with anything we needed. Rental car/scooter right on site and island was very easy to get around. Terrible wifi connection is probably the only thing that could be improved. Free us of kayaks, snorkel gear and paddle boards was great. Would definitely recommend.
We enjoyed our stay in a lagoon hut. The people at the resort were very nice and welcoming. The hotel was accommodating and arranged for our pick up at the ferry upon arrival which we greatly appreciated. We rented a car right at the resort and toured the island. The onsite restaurant was handy and yummy. We had lots of rain while there but the restaurant had little huts to provide shelter from the rain. We would be happy to return!
Next time I’d go for the oceanfront bungalow. Our lagoon bungalow had a partial ocean view which was nice and it had an indoor outdoor shower with a clothesline for drying your clothes… which would have been great except for our rain. But that was the weather and not the hotels fault.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
Located on a nice beach at the bottom of the small Huahine island. My bungalow had mini fridge, hot water kettle, private bathroom, quiet AC that kept the bungalow cool. Everyday is hot and humid
Also, coffee and tea packets with sugar and cream packets are refilled daily. Room is cleaned daily. Very nice staff. Also, has a 20 x 40 foot fresh water pool. Also, has a restaurant. Eurocar rental is located on the property it rents cars and scooters. It's a secluded area so you need to rent a car or scooter to see Huahine. The main town of Fare is around a 30 minute drive. Paddle boards and kayaks are free to use.
The property is one of two hotels open in the island. It has a wonderful sand beach and very good snorkeling from the beach. Our first room we checked into was not renovated and the air conditioning didn’t work. We also had red ants. Called for maintenance and they came immediately. They told the front desk to move us to the room next door. It was a fully renovated room and it was excellent. I am not sure why we didn’t get that room in the first place. But in the end it worked out. Food was good at the restaurant. Limited dining options on the island. Took and island tour with snorkeling the front desk arranged for us. It was an excellent tour. Overall we had a lovely stay and the hotel was excellent.
La Mahana in Huahine was a fantastic stay. The bungalows are spacious, quiet, clean, and offer amazing ocean views. The restaurant serves a great variety of food, including local Tahitian dishes, fresh fish, and French cuisine. The fish burger with lagoon fish and the poisson cru were highlights. Wine is reasonably priced compared to other hotels.
The beach is breathtaking—clear, calm blue water, perfect for swimming, and surrounded by coconut trees. It’s the best beach on the island, with vibrant coral reefs filled with fish, stingrays, and turtles. The hotel is quiet and ideal for relaxation, with the environment kept clean and well-maintained.
The staff were exceptional, especially the reception team. They helped me rent a car and organized a special beachfront dinner for my family, making the experience truly memorable. The entire team, from housekeeping to restaurant staff, was attentive and friendly.
A suggestion for the hotel would be to offer more options on Expedia, such as the ability to book half-board or breakfast-inclusive stays. This would provide guests with even more convenience and enhance the overall experience. Overall, La Mahana is a perfect destination for anyone seeking a peaceful and beautiful escape in Huahine.
A very quiet and relaxing place to spend a few days savoring the Tahitian pace of life. Bora Bora offers more hectic fun but come here to relax. Excellent food covering Tahitian fish dishes and European and American choices. Big breakfast buffet as well. Our beach bungalow was well appointed, roomy, and comfortable, in a tropical way. We have enjoyed ourselves fully on two other stays. The beach is just steps away and the snorkeling among colorful fishes is just beside the dock. No need to pay extra for that! Kayaks and canoes available too. Staff are very charming and friendly, even more than most other places we have stayed in Tahiti. Staff all dress in colorful outfits that seem to recall a kind of formal elegance that may have been the style of an older era. The location is a half hour drive away from the airport at the south tip of the smaller of 2 islands. They provide a shuttle service, very good. Cars and motorbikes can be rented at Mahana. We just stayed at the resort and chilled out. You can walk about on the road but not much to see nearby. The island is mostly agricultural and not developed. We took a sightseeing tour of about two hours on a previous trip. Shopping in Fare the only real town was interesting as an intro to ordinary life in Tahiti. You can find splashier accommodations on some other islands but Mahana delivers restrained elegance.

Pickup at airport was very professional with signs and uniformed driver who gave us a commentary on the sights en route to hotel, a 30 minute drive. Huahine is very lush, a true garden island, very nice reception and pretty walk to our bungalow, right on the beach. The view is worth the price, but garden bungalows are only a few yards back so if price matters a lot you are only missing the view and beach access is just a few steps further. Our room is well appointed with AC, coffee/tea setup, and a lovely bathroom with a shower that opens to a private garden on the backside. King bed and a separate single that doubles as a sofa by day. Outside deck chairs and table for surf watching all day or between swims. The property is relatively compact with about 15 ft between bungalows but we have had no noisy neighbors- just can’t skinny dip. Beach is lovely and adequate but not very long. Lots of shade trees, more than other islands we have visited and much appreciated at midday. As well Huahine is a few degrees cooler than the last island we left yesterday. Snorkeling by the dock is as good as some places that tour boats charge money for. All in all a quiet laid back place to relax and embrace the tropical pace of life. Canoes and paddle boards available for greater exertion but this is not a party place like Bora Bora. Great variety on the menu but we are not foodies so no advice there. this is our third stay at Le Mahana in as many trips to Tahiti, always a joy.
This was a gorgeous location, very relaxing, beautiful sunsets. The air conditioning in the rooms was perfect, which we needed during the week we were there.
Pure tranquility! We booked a beachfront room, so had our toes in the sand as soon as we woke up. Loved the swimming, snorkeling, kayaking. Staff were lovely. We could have gotten by without a car, but had one for convenience.
A Hidden Gem with Outstanding Hospitality!
I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel La Mahana recently, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The hotel is nestled in a serene location, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxation. The rooms were impeccably clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay.
What really stood out, however, was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt welcomed and taken care of. From the warm greeting at check-in to the thoughtful recommendations for local activities and dining, they were attentive and genuinely invested in making the stay enjoyable.
The on-site restaurant was also a highlight, serving delicious meals with fresh, local ingredients. Whether it was breakfast by the pool or a romantic dinner under the stars, the dining experience added to the overall charm of the hotel.
If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with top-notch service, Hotel La Mahana is a fantastic choice. I can’t wait to return!
This hotel is a nice place to stay in Huahine. It is far from the airport, but they offer a shuttle service for an additional charge. Once there, though, you have everything you need. Beautiful beach with free kayaks, paddleboards, etc. Really good food at the on-site restaurant, with a charming restaurant just next door. And comfortable rooms with a nice outdoor sitting area to watch the sunset. Also, if you like massages, the one we booked through the hotel was excellent. The only negative thing I can say is that service is a bit iffy. They didn't respond to numerous messages sent through Hotels.com. We waited over an hour for our dessert in the hotel restaurant one night. And the check-in process was uncomfortable. We shared the airport shuttle with another couple who we didn't know. The front desk person tried to sit us down and check us in together, at the same time, which entailed discussing personal details like activities booked, etc. It seemed really inappropriate, so I asked to step over to a more private area. It seems strange that they didn't suggest themselves. Personal financial details shouldn't be discussed in front of strangers.
