"The best hotel to stay in if you are visiting Taroko Gorge.
The gorge can be difficult to access given the current timed road closures, so long as you plan ahead, you shouldn’t have issues.
We were given the option to upgrade our room to a balcony room type on the second level. It was a comfortable room. The bathroom was a generous size and had a large bath. The bedroom had two double beds, a small table and seats and a couch. There was a coffee machine and daily free mini bar. The balcony had a small table and chairs.
The rooftop hot tubs were the highlight of the stay and a really enjoyable place to unwind after a day of hiking.
The breakfast buffet was another highlight with a large variety of choices that changed daily. The dinner buffet was equally as impressive with a large variety of food to choose from.
A lovely surprise was the happy hour which included complimentary beverages and snacks every day in the late afternoon.
Despite the positive impression, for a 5 star resort we thought some aspects were lacking: While we could see the gorge river from the balcony, we could also see what appeared to be a muddy building site below.
Our attempt at playing tennis was foiled as the tennis court appeared to be under renovation or abandoned."
