We stayed at Ryan’s Budget Hotel in August, during peak season. The price was high, so we expected a lot, and the room didn’t match the listing. The photos on Expedia look edited or AI-generated. In person, the tiles were old and worn, nothing like what’s shown.
The biggest problem was mold behind the bathroom door. I have lung issues, so this was a real health concern for me. We went straight to the front desk, and they told us no other rooms were available. Only after my husband asked to speak with the manager did other rooms suddenly become available. These were much closer to the listing photos and had more modern bathrooms. We moved into one of them.
The new room was better, but the air conditioning was old and could barely keep up with the August heat.
The one thing that really made up for the other issues was the location. The hotel is right on the marina, in the middle of everything, with bars, restaurants, and shops just steps away.
To be fair, they did eventually make it right after we complained, and the location is hard to beat. But we shouldn’t have had to escalate to a manager to get a mold-free room, especially at peak-season prices. Overall it wasn’t a great experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless the listing photos are updated and the rooms get some real maintenance.
