  • Blue Lake * (Croatian: Modro jezero or Plavo jezero) is a karst lake located near Imotski in southern Croatia. Like the nearby Red Lake, it lies in a deep sinkhole possibly formed by the collapse of an enormous underground cave. The total depth from the upper rim is around 220 meters, while water depth varies with season. In spring, when the snow from surrounding mountains melts, it can reach 90 m, and in 1914 it reached 114 m, overflowing the southern rim. The lake is a popular destination for hiking and sight-seeing. Maximum dimensions of the lake are around 800×500 m, but they significantly vary due to big changes in the water level. At the end of the summer the lake may completely disappear. In 1907 a road was built descending to the lake. The accommodation is absolutely superb and we loved it.

The accommodation is absolutely superb and we loved it. We travel a lot and have stayed in many different places and types of accommodation over the years, but this stands out as one of the best places we have ever stayed at. It's spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped and in a great location.The pool area is fantastic and the outdoor kitchen and living area allow you to make the most of the pool facilities. Even the views are great as you can lie on your sunbed and see the Biokovo mountains in the distance.The location is great with the Lidl and Tommy supermarkets within easy walking distance and Imotski town centre is just a short drive away. We ate twice at the nearby Ferrum Restauarant, which we thought was excellent with a good choice of dishes. The villa is also ideally located with Split, Makarska, Mostar and the Kravica Waterfalls within easy reach.The host Katarina and her husband Ante were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a great stay. All in all, I cannot fault it and we will definitely return one day.

Check in und Check out waren problemlos, die Vermieter sind überaus freundlich und zuvorkommend.Der Weg zu den nächsten Stränden dauert mit dem Auto ca. 30 Minuten, Parkplätze sind vor Ort. Lidl und andere Geschäfte sind nur 5 Minuten entfernt.
