"Abbiamo soggiornato in questa struttura per una notte. La camera era molto pulita e spaziosa, a disposizione in camera un frigo con l'acqua, macchinetta del caffè con cialde e zucchero, set di posate, piatti e tazze. Ottimo, anche il ristorante, con piatti tipici fatti alla griglia o pizza. Ottima scelta per chi viaggia in moto come noi perché si ha la possibilità di parcheggiare la propria moto davanti alla camera. Personale molto cortese e disponibile. "The hotel is beautiful and in a great location but has some odd issues that make me think the management is skimping on maintenance. We noticed that the phone was not connected. When we brought it up to the front desk we were told that they were aware of the problem and they gave us the external number to the hotel so that we could call on our cell. No attempt was made to fix the phone. There was a leak from the bathroom sink. After we told them of the problem they did nothing about it. That evening we called about it. It took a while to explain the problem because the person that answered barely spoke English. They did send someone to mop up the floor but no one ever came to repair it. When we used one of the light switches it blew the circuit breakers in the room and also caused rooms near us to lose power too. They got it to work but that night at 1:00 AM it happened again. 8 of their staff showed up to fix it but no one was able too. Power was restored to the other rooms but never to ours. We moved to another room for the rest of our stay. We thought all this to be comical but none of the problems had been repaired when we left 2 days later. These things shouldn’t happen at a 5 star hotel."

The architecture and design used elements of stone, wood, metal and textile in a modern way that still honors the past. The hosts were exceptionally attentive and friendly. The breakfast was as delicious as it was beautiful. I will hold this place in my heart’s memory."

"We absolutely loved our stay at Cenobio Hotel in Matera. Staying in a cave hotel was such a unique experience and felt like the perfect way to experience the Sassi, while still being incredibly comfortable. The climate-controlled air conditioning worked wonderfully, and the room was a welcome retreat after spending the day exploring Matera. What really made our stay exceptional, though, was Mario. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to take care of us. He met us in the piazza where our taxi dropped us off and helped us carry our luggage to the hotel, which we greatly appreciated given Matera’s many steps and stone streets! He was also incredibly helpful during our stay, including assisting us with restaurant reservations. The combination of the beautiful cave accommodations, wonderful location, and genuinely personal hospitality made this one of the memorable stays of our trip through Italy. We would highly recommend Cenobio to anyone visiting Matera and would happily stay here again."
