“So much potential undelivered unfortunately. The building is stunning & the rooms internally were lovely, but parts externally are in state of disrepair & buildings round the back look like they’re falling apart. Our first impression wasn’t amazing, we’ve come to expect a warm welcome of Scotland, but the greeting we received was functional, very polite & well mannered, but not warm or welcoming. We also weren’t given an Islay House guide which meant we had to guess what the amenities were……

“This hostel was incredibly clean, including the room, showers, toilets, and the shared kitchen and lounge. I have stayed in hostels several times before, but this is the cleanest one I have ever experienced! The hostel managers were also kind and very warm people; they really looked after me! If I have the chance to visit Islay again, I would definitely stay here and would highly recommend it to my friends!”

“Loved the ample living room areas, we were all spread out, very private on first floor. Comfortable bed and clean room and bathroom. Quiet upstairs bedrooms, but our toilet was running constantly and we needed to close the valve behind the toilet after each flush. Excellent breakfast and service.”
