My group of nine men stayed for three nights at this property, and we really enjoyed the experience. We like to play board games and musical instruments, cook gourmet meals, relax, and get away from the stress for a few days. We would definitely come back here to stay again. Here are my impressions of the pros and cons of this property for my group:
PROS
- Very spacious, with a large deck and courtyard area. Thomas allowed us to bring an enclosed fire pit, which made mornings and evenings cozy with a nice rustic feel.
- Secluded and out of sight of neighbors. Pretty quiet, but we heard the occasional car driving by or honking geese at the neighbor down the street.
- Plenty of beds, plus extra floor space for sleeping bags and air mattresses. Beds were quite comfortable, although a couple are twin size and not suitable for taller men.
- The game room is a real nice feature, as it's detached from the house, and we used it to play music in without disturbing the neighbors.
- Kitchen is generally well set up, with decent appliances. We didn't use the gas grill, but it looks to be good quality even though it was pretty grimy. We also didn't use the charcoal kettle but might in the future.
- Large dining table fits 9 men for meals...10 would be a real squeeze if we tried it.
- Bathrooms are modern and clean with nice showers.
- There is actually parking space for up to 8 vehicles.
- The landline phone provided was nice to have in case we needed it, since we couldn't get cell service in the area.
- There are stores nearby to purchase supplies if needed.
- Thomas, the owner, is very responsive and helpful.
CONS
There are not really any true "cons," but here are some features that you might want to know about.
- Even though the property is large, it is heavily wooded with underbrush and not really suited for trail hiking or biking. If we wanted to do that, there are plenty of places in the area to hike and bike, but you have to drive 15-30 minutes away and we didn't want to spend the time to do that. The pond and creek are accessible for young kids to entertain themselves.
- The owner asks guests to take off their shoes in the house. Not exactly an unreasonable request, but can be inconvenient when going in and out.
- The photos of the property show a "nearby creek," but we didn't see that and don't know where it is or how nearby it is.
