This is the river where grain alcohol turned into bourbon. Along this river distillers would load barges of alcohol destined for Memphis and New Orleans. To cheapen the transport, they used cask oak barrels. During the long trip down to New Orleans the alcohol would mix in with the wooden barrels and be transformed. New Orleans didn't know what to call this sweet new liquor. The casks were stamped with the county of origin, Bourbon County. This resulted in a new nickname being formed, Bourbon Whiskey, and the name stuck. The river isn't used for transport much anymore, but the history remains.

“This is a wonderful property. It is very cozy, and the beds are fantastic. About our only criticism would be more that there was not a lot of lighting in the primary bedroom and that there needed to be a better non-stick skillet or two for the kitchen. Also, for those with kiddos, the stairs to the loft are very steep. Property is perfect for adults though, and the location is perfect for walking to shops and restaurants. ”
