there was no toilet paper, no body lotion. there was no free breakfast which was the reason i chose it. unfortunately they just listed on hotels.com that they have breakfast while they dont offer it

Great value in Sandton

Marion Lodge is an owner operated property with easy access to Sandton City. It is a short taxi ride away in a gated community. Well priced offering a good breakfast. It certainly offers value for money. Staff are friendly and helpful.

A Home away from home

I work up with security and assurance of the best quality service each day. My room was very comfortable and neat. Their was room service to do clean my mess and arrange my room every day when ever I stepped out. I had my break my complementary breakfast listening to the pidgeons chirp. The food was delicious and healthy with ample fruits and vegetables. With a lot of precursors and sides. It was served buffet style. The staffs were also very warm, receptive and friendly. At times I was pampered. They aided me get arround at times. Marion lodge is the most affordable lodge in Sandton please look it up. It is situated in a safe and secured neighborhood. It is close to the Sandton Mall, Gautrain Station, Sandton city downtown. It is an affluent neighborhood situated right next to sandhurst. Come alone, with friends, or with family and enjoy a home away from home!

my stay at Marion Lodge

it was my first international experience and at first I didnt know what to expect, I am so glad that I stayed at Marion lodge as it leaves wonderful experience of sandton city, it is a walking distance to sandton mail and Gautrain station which is a bonus.

Best option for short stay ...

It was my small stay at the accommodation. very friendly and helpful staff. though there is not much of option in kitchen, but the food is fantastic. I specially thanks to the cook for the delicious Indian food she cooked. your really feel being at home as of personalized attention for your requirement and comfort, be it a room, food or travel. need to improve in options of food ( breakfast/dinner ).

Nice Hotel will stay here again

Very nice stay, comfortable rooms and good breakfast setup. Helpful and friendly staff. Only negative is that the wind chimes were too close to my room window making it difficult to sleep.

Seclusion

Would not not go back no matter the price. Was accused of breaking a chair that was already weak to begin with and was asked to pay for it; of course I held my ground and did not pay. The owner further stated that "they" gave me a special price for the room; I had to explain that a publicly advertised price on a website is NOT a personal favor for me! After this disagreement I no longer felt comfortable staying there and was counting my time there. Further, the hotel is too secluded for my taste; nothing is withing walking distance. Note; GPS is necessary in and out of that maze.

Marion Revisited

Booked over the phone and went painstakingly through the process. Request: 1 single and 1 double. No singles! Ok, let's take 2 doubles and that was what we paid. arrival after 15 hour flight we were met with the situation of only 2 singles?.. 3 rd time at Marion but maybe never again.

Fine for a single night.

Small B&B. Fine for a single night's stay but not much good for any longer than that due to the size of the room. No amenities within very close vicinity but dinner on offer in the room was a very generous but expensive (ZAR100/USD10 for a Spaghetti Bolognese with a side Salad). Nice touch of having a mini bar in the room. Friendly serving and management staff and feels quite secure. The biggest downfall was poor admin as I was not terribly impressed with the confusion that arose after my booking was amended and not picked up (even though I saw that they had the correspondence). The room was double booked and the other guest ended up being booked out to another hotel - glad it wasn't me that late in the evening ;-( Very nice pool area which looked very relaxing and I suppose good for an overnight rest stop before another flight as the airport access was quite good.

Great location, great value, fair standards

My biggest complaint would be that it is hard to find this hotel as the road numbering and visibility is confusing. They should provide adequate signage from the adjoining road. When you do find it then the service is good. The bathroom of room 8 had a very noisy fan and the tiling was not great and fairly old. Also the headboard is loose and knocks against the wall with any movement. I loved the bar fridge and breakfast area was fresh and clean. I would stay here if I was on a budget.

Convenient to Sandton City

I enjoyed the breakfast and the staff were friendly. However, my room was extremely small. In fact, the desk didn't even have a chair so I had to sit on the bedside chest of drawers! The internet worked okay in the evening but the storm during the night knocked it out so I had to use my phone as a modem to send out e-mails the next morning.
