Peaceful, well appointed room with private entrance ,down a flight of stairs, overlooking our back yard garden of fruit trees and red ginger blooms. Private bath with shower, queen bed, walk in closet, kitchenette, outdoor seating; Wake up and pick fruit for breakfast (when in season). Convenient location. Easy access to Beaches, Restaurants and Local Attractions. Friendly hosts - older couple with two little puppies - Kalua & Angelica - also very friendly!

We were met by Judy and Michael when we arrived and they had delicious banana bread, fresh bananas and a papaya which we enjoyed for our breakfasts. They had all the amenities needed to sleep well, shower, cook/pack lunches, wonderful beach amenities, and some delicious restaurant recommendations. Judy and Mike are so very kind and caring and always available when we had any questions.We would love to stay again!!Mahalo!

Owners were very nice, friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. No problems. Dogs are cute and friendly, too. Only negative was carrying luggage down the stairs to the room.

Peacefull and warm hospitality

We stayed at the Red Ginger Garden Studio 3 nights in February 2025. The studio is charming and well equipped and supplied. The back yard garden is beautiful and great place to start the day with a cup of Kona coffee and the sound of the birds. Michael and Judy were lovely hosts. Would love to come back again. Excellent stay

Gem near downtown Kona!

We loved our stay here for 3 nights! It’s very clean and comfortable and there are so many lovely touches - delicious banana bread, fresh fruit, snorkeling and beach equipment, etc. The location is perfect for going to downtown Kona. We will definitely be back here the next time we’re in Kona!

Perfect Getaway

This was my second stay here and it was great. The suite was peaceful, clean, and had great views of the backyard. Location was great close to the beach. Our hosts were amazing as usual as well. Would love to come again in the future.

Perfect place to stay for our first Hawaiian visit!

Judy and Michael were so friendly, welcoming, and quick to accommodate our needs. They provided snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, etc that was so helpful!

Beautiful efficiency near beach and Kona Airport

Michael and Judy are wonderful hosts, very accommodating and responsive to every need. Very nice property and well situated. The efficiency has everything you will need and is quiet and by itself, overlooking a very nice garden. We highly recommend it!

Best place in Kona to stay!

Judy & Michael are the best hosts. Beautiful property. Safe and quite place to rest your head. Looking forward to our next stay there. Close drive to eating, beach and town. Place was clean and the homemade banana bread was amazing along with all the nice fruit. The two small dogs are very friendly. Felt at home.

Most relaxing.

Judy and Michael and their cute puppies were so very friendly and accommodating. Sometimes we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It was also nice to visit with them. Our stay on the island was just more relaxing and carefree because of our stay in their home away from home.

Excellent ohana house!

Judy and Michael are excellent and kind hosts who did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. They had beach and snorkel gear, fresh fruit from their backyard (bananas and mangos), and coffee and cold drinks available upon our arrival. The ohana flat has outdoor chairs that look out on their beautiful and quiet backyard (great for morning coffee and evening cocktail). While the space is not large, it is perfect for a couple, and well-situated between Kailua and Kealakekua. Very convenient!

Amazing stay

Aloha , About property? Super super cozy and clean. Garden has fruits and plant's ,close to most important attractions in Kona. Close to coffee farms, close to the beach🌴. You can’t expect more About Judy and Michael . Just amazing people. They always there if you need them but you don’t feel they are there. Really nice talks with both Can’t wait to see you again. Hidden gem in paradise

This adorable place was more than what we expected. We were welcomed so kindly by Judy, Michael, and the cutie dogs. We felt at home and was a place so clean, peaceful, and has all the extra necessities. We loved our homemade banana bread, fruits, and hearing the birds in the morning. The garden is beautiful. The house is conveniently located near restaurants, beaches, & shopping area. It is in a safe and quiet neighborhood. We wish we could have stayed longer for vacation but we are looking forward to come back again.

Home away from home

Michael and Judy were consummate hosts! The room was as pictured and came with home-y touches including towels, beach chairs, and bags for the beach. Additionally, they treated us like welcomed guests with fresh banana bread, sourdough, and fruits (including pineapples, avocados, papayas, and bananas!) from their yard. We had a lovely time chatting with them, while at the same time, being afforded privacy throughout our 5-night stay. It was the best of both worlds. We would 100% stay with them again when traveling back to the Big Island! Mahalo!

Beautiful property, nice hosts and friendly dogs

This is a nice unit with a private entrance in the lower level of a private home. Beautiful yard, nice hosts and friendly dogs. They have water gear to use such as beach chairs, boogy boards, masks/snorkels, etc. The only downside is there is no air conditioning in the unit. There is a ceiling fan and multiple windows that open however.

Judy and Michael are the best hosts! From the fresh fruit- oranges, figs, papaya!- to the bird-filled backyard, we felt like we were in our own sunny little paradise. It was so peaceful and welcoming. They gave great suggestions for beaches, coffee, and things-to-do. They basically said the backyard was ours, and it was so nice to sit outside- in February! - enjoying our coffee and homemade banana bread. This was our 1st trip to Hawaii and I'm so glad that we went to Kona- it is stunning, and Red Ginger House is a place we'd definitely want to return to. It's a great choice if you prefer a quieter experience away from the crowds and resorts. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

We enjoyed our stay in this happy place! The accommodations were clean, there was fresh fruit in a bowl and a mini-loaf of banana bread in the fridge waiting for us upon arrival. Judy and Michael gave us all the private space we needed but were also helpful when we had questions. There was all sorts of beach equipment available to us, a carport for covered parking, and a sitting area just outside our door for morning coffee and birdwatching. We accidentally left some expensive chocolate covered macadamia nuts in the fridge. I contacted Micheal and he sent them to us immediately. That's going above and beyond!

Cozy getaway in a central and quiet location

We had a great time, and the hosts were super warm and welcoming. They have a ton of beach gear to borrow, and they made us delicious banana bread! Minutes away from beaches and downtown Kona.
